Humans only ?

Maybe a tad xenophobic but we're starting a wee league tonight ;4 players, 4 human teams, no big guys, star players, inducement cards or wizards.
The reasons:to keep it simple & speed the game up, as 3 of us havn't played for years and one not at all.
The format like champions league group stage then top 2 play for title and bottom 2 for wooden spoon.
Any thoughts or sugestions?

Well, it is a good start to get back into the game. Should be a lot of fun, seeing humies vs humies ... :) See who can build the best all around team :)

I dunno, I know a few old-time BB coaches that have recently started a league very similar to this (humans only - no BG, 0-4 Blitzers or 0-4 Catchers or 0-2 Blitzers and Catchers only).

Yep, we're using 0-2 throwers, 0-4 catchers, 0-4 blitzers &0-16 linemen.
It's proving a blast so far although our play is as slow as a week in the jail, partly through unfamiliarity of lrb5 & not having a print out of the rules or those summarized rules, the sticky above in this forum mentions 2 different ones pbbl & lrb 4 are they compatable with lrb 5 ?
We had to suspend play at half time, 2AM, opponent works Sundays, but I m winning 2-1 woo-hoo! C'mon the Cliftonville Cruisers!*
* Cliftonville-home of Albion Rovers, regulary Scotland's worst team.

LRB 4, no, there's to many differences to play LRB4 and 5 side-by-side.
PBBL depends on the version. PBBL was the working title of the playtest versions that became LRB5. The last playtrest version, and therefore the LRB5, was PBBL 1.12. Probably PBBL 1.10 and 1.11 are close enough to work, but earlier versions have a lot of changes to the final version.

Do you have the rule-book at all, or you have it and not printed-it yet? In any case, here is the link to it, just in case.

For the summarized rules, check in the below thread. There may be others as well.

Thank's Cramy, I couldn't remember where I'd seen that last link.
As you alluded to I didn't have a printout as my printer is goosed, the wife's been off work & my mate "never got round to it", consequently had to play last night going back & forth to the pc. Slooooowwww.
Got to say this is an excellent website. Thank's again yerra star.

Yup, we're doing exactly the same - 4 coaches, all human teams, no star players (we tend never to play cards or wizards anyway). Now into our second season when each coach can design a Star player, we agree on a price and then the are available.

LOTS of fun...

...although that may be because after last season's horror, I'm actually winning this season  :P

I'm not too keen on creating starplayers for fear of creating a monster beardy gamebreaker dude, although we do it in a way by allocating MVPs.
