Newbie in Oxford

Hi all,
I was into Blood Bowl in the early 90s, and am trying to get back into it regularly if possible (went to my first tournament, the Spiky Club Open, a couple of weeks ago). Unfortunately, I live in OXford, where there seems to be a noticeable dearth in BB players. I'm asking about joining the Milton Keynes Wargames Unlimited league, but in the meantime, is there *anyone* around who plays Blood Bowl in Oxford??
Cheers,
Jamie

Hey
I live in Milton Keynes and/or Hitchin (the latter is closer to Oxford) & would be keen to give you a game if we can arrange it sometime. I'm also due to join the MK Wargamers Unlimited or whatever it's called - the league has just finished so a new one is being organised... no details of when though at the moment.
Cheers
Matt...

Don't know about the Oxford area but we did have a guy from Reading who used to come gaming at our club (in Calne, Wiltshire about an hour or so from Oxford down the M4) till his car blew up/stopped working.
I'm our current league commish (and I write our clubs newslettery thing), but you'd almost certainly find a friendly game (or possibly 3 on a Saturday gaming day) if you were to come along.

Matt - that'd be cool, although looking at a route finder Hitchin looks about half an hour further than MK! But if we could arrange a game some time I'd be up for it. What race do you play?
Buggrit - I've looked at your website, and so far November the 18th is looking good for me to come along!
Cheers guys,
Jamie

Yeah, sorry... I have my map skills in a scramble! MK is closer & if you let me know what days are good I'm sure we can arrange something somewhere.
Variety is the spice of life, so I have 14 races currently... but I seem to be currying favour with dwarves and high elves lately.
Cheers

I'd be surprised if there wasn't any BB action in Oxford. There's a large RPG group there that a couple of my coaches were a part of and the ever dependable The Gameskeeper on the Cowley must be supplying someone.

Hi Jim,
I'm down the M40 in High Wycombe and would be up for a game sometime if you don't find anyone in Oxford.
I went to Spiky last year and was going to go to again this year but had to cancel. How did you do? Another good tourney not far from Oxford is the Strongbowl Cup in Evesham in March - much smaller than Spiky but great fun and generous prizes.
I have most LRB teams but only chaos, humans, skaven & undead in a state beyond undercoating.
Cheers,
Pad

Hey Jamie, I was the NAF guy asking you about membership etc at Spiky and i did find you on the NAF records as well.
I live in Woodley (just out of Reading) and agree there is not much that happens in the whole Thames Valley area. Almost needs a BB club to start up like the ECBBL in London but I will PM my mobile and email if you fancy a game. ( Got all 21 races and you can borrow any if you fancy using them).

Matt - I take it from elsewhere in the forum that you'll be moving to London anyway?

And 14 races, excellent; makes me feel like even more of a fly-by-night player though!
Anarchy - Well, I haven't seen anything on the net or Dailyinfo.co.uk, and the GW shop doesn't have a league going

The Gameskeeper, wonderful as it is (I must have spent hundreds in there on board games and RPG supplements...), doesn't stock Blood Bowl stuff, as far as I can see...
Pad - Spiky was good, thanks! Won 2, drew 1 (against Paul Geggs!), and lost 3, which I thought wasn't too shabby for a first tournament! Certainly learnt some tips and strategies that will hopefully help in the future (such as 'don't ever play Amazons...'), and had a fun time. I'll certainly think about Strongbowl, and I'd be happy to give you a game some time.
Dave - Yep, I remember you! I completely forgot about my green dice I'm afraid! I'd also be happy to give you a game, there are plenty of races I haven't played against (and even more I haven't actually played with!), so it would definitely be good practice!
I am wondering how much travelling and playing I can do in the run-up to Christmas though, so I'll have to look at my diary and money very carefully!

Wrong! Although I'm now working in London I'll still be living in Milton Keynes and/or Hitchin... no plans to move down to London. So I'm sure we'll still be able to arrange a game or two at some point. Just let me know when you're free & we should be able to sort it!
If you thought 14 teams was a lot, there're some with all the teams... they're nutters!
Cheers

Hey there - I'm just getting back into GW stuff in general, and used to play Blood Bowl - am thinking of taking it up again. As you can tell from my nickname, I'm from Oxford.
I think that 'Oxford gaming club' (meet on Monday evenings, Baptist
Church Hall, Botley) have been known to do BB tournaments etc....

Excellent, that's good to hear! We should sort out a game some time! What race(s) do you play?
Cheers,
Jamie

Mostly Orcs - though, as I say, that was a fair while ago and now I am just getting back into it all. Be delighted to fix up a game sometime though...
