dauntless+frenzy, how does it work exactly?

if e.g. a dwarven trollslayer tries to block a BOB or a mummy etc., and fails his dauntless roll, but manages to push the opponent back, he has to follow up and block again with his STR 3, hasn't he?
or may he roll again for dauntless at the following block?
same thing if he passes his dauntless check but get's only to push back the enemy?

each hit has its own dauntless roll.
