I agree... properly played Wood Elves are the best team when it comes to actually win the match (as opposed to crushing the opposition, which is not always the same...
)
The only team in my league I never managed to beat is my best friend's advanced Wood Elves (they are touchdown scoring machines)
Oooooh damn I hate Wood Elves!

I also would say that you will win a lot of cames against those teams.
I played WE for a long time and I give you the advice that you don't have to follow the strict AG teams tactics.
Put at least one Dirty player to your team(I had 3 of them at my Woodelfteam) and play a little Darkelf style.

Wood Elves can be an incredible team if they survive their first few games.
I have seen games where the Wood Elves have won the game 3 to 1 or 3 to 0, and the Wood Elf coach comes away feeling like they lost because of the casualties that they amassed in their dead and injured box during the game.
It takes a lot of skill to play the Wood Elves efficiently on defense and avoid a massive number of casualties. Some coaches allow a token defense just dodging away and keeping out of your opponents reach just long enough to delay his score so that you can comeback again and score against him. Woodelves that win the coin toss at the beginning of the game can usually score in two turns, then allowing his opponent to score in 4 and taking the 2 remaining turns of the first half to chalk up a 2 to 1 advantage. In the 2nd half when you kick off you should try and strip the ball from your opponents ball carrier and get in for another TD. Sit on defense for another 4 turns offering up another token attempt to stop him. Allow him to score again so that you can waltz in for your 4th TD for the game.
Keep enough linemen and catchers near the line of scrimmage so that you can try and dodge through your opponents backfield and catch the ball when a BLITZ opportunity happens on the kick off table. Your chances will be better of getting a BLITZ result the more you score and have to kick off to your opponent. Spread your elves out though so they become a more flexible defense. Remember, with a minimum MV7 on your team, you can reach alot of places quicker than your opposition. Make the most of your speed.
Also, try starting with a high fan factor and try to build up the number of coaches and cheerleaders on your team so that you can win all of the Cheering fans and Brilliant coaching results on the kick off chart. Extra rerolls will come in handy during the game. Don't overlook this aspect of play.
Minimize your casualties by dodging away from your opponents as much as possible. Try making as many Block/Dodgers as you can when you skill up. This combo is invaluable to an AV7 team. Try to only throw 2D blocks and avoid having to use your reroll counters unless you have to complete the action to score or keep the ball out of the hands of your opponents. You really have to manage your rerolls as you probably don't have more than 1 or 2 to start with.

As the other say, WE's played properly can make your opponents cry looking back at the results
The first few games will dominate how fast your team will become powerfull.
The biggest mistake most new WE coaches do (IMHO) is to let the positional players do all the job, and they are left with Linemens without any skills. Remeber that with this team you can score in 2 turns with EVERYONE on your team without a single Go For It. In the Tactics thread there are loads of hints to play this team, so i suggest you take a little search in that area. If you can't find what you need do not hesitate to send a PM.

It just happenend to me as leblanc13 said. Won the first game by 2:1 against amazons. But I suffered two dead and two serious injured player, a lineelf lost a point of strength
. Most cas were due to unlucky rolls on my side and in adition to that my opponent rolled well. On one occasion I allowed my opponent too much blocks but they weren't the problem. Both deaths were rolled with 1 dice blocks
and that was not funny.
All in all it was a nice game, nearly made the third touchdown in the last turn but my catcher was too excited to pick up the ball.
The next game will be with 8 players on the field
.
Quite amusing is the new Team Rating with 95, this team is now quite a challenge.
cheers
Tobias

i find the price of woods to be a bit on the high side.
skaven have the same AV but they(lineman) are 20K cheaper and thats a lot!
i have once played a woods team and i started out with 2 RR but with so many lineman that i really hoped that some would die or else i would not be able to replace them with good position players.
well i did not have to wait very long....
woods are nice, but in an ongoing league. they ar just way to expencive with other teams gaining more money and spp, but with elf constantly have not enough money for replacements and predictiably suffering from aging a lot more.
i still think woods are the coolest team though, but it take a very cool coach to bring them along in a ongoing league and stay having a good game.
and remember, think to yourself if you play elfs. how fun is it to have only 7guys you can field. and can you still win, thats what is the normal good WE tamcoach.
or so is my suspicion

WE
I play a Wood Elf team and are getting more pleased with it every time. I used to play Dark Elf and love the fast moving game, so now I got my hands on a set of WE minis and started a league with 5. We decided to play different teams so we have 1 dwarf, 1 skaven, 1 orc, 1 Dark elf and myself.
We only noticed the new rules after 2 matches so we recently started using them, but with some additions: the special play cards are still in the game and the skills given before the new rules do apply.
Unfortunately lost the first 1 (2-3 against Dwarfs!!) but suffered 1 dead and 4 SI (including 1 niggling and 1 -1 AG). The second match was a formality beacuse of that (1-4 against orcs), but yesterday I beat a Skaven team 3-2.
I started with 9 Lineman, 1 WD and a thrower (I love throwing games). He has Accurate and Strong arm, while I equipped my WD with Strip ball. 2 Linemen died and I bought a catcher. One lineman gained 1AG and is now on AG5. I'll probably give him block to make him a WE Blitzer.
Any tips on how to play? Any special tactics? Or anyone I can help?
