Skill for my WE team

I've been following Eclectic Elf's guide to playing wood elves.
I rolled double six for my new skill with one of my line elves.
The guide says to pick up guard any time doubles are rolled, but my friends in the league are telling me to take the +1 str.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'd always take the ST+. Reserve guard for the regular doubles.
Having a 7447 player is unbeatable. Go for a Block, Dodge, Leap routine and you'll have a cage buster that makes your wardancers look bad. Go for Block, Dodge, Guard and Sidestep to get a very annoying lineplayer.

Welcome, Scooby
Take the ST +1. You'll appreciate it. ST4 is grrrreat in even team. If you roll doubless, take guard, but if you roll double 6, take the ST.

as regular skills Block, Dodge and Sidestep should be given to all your players to make your team incredibly annoyant to play against

The quide "tells" what to take if do not roll for +ma, ag or str. Double 5 is a question wheter movement or trait would be better. And you do not have to stick with the guide

The only time I would not take the ST increase is if I had already increased the players ST two other times.

I also would give him the St+ 1.
The only time I would think about not to give the St+1 to a player is the Catcher.
And even here it will be a hard decision.

I wouldn't take it on a ST 1 player.
