Greetings and Question on One-off Teams

Post by aussierules »

Hello all, this is my first post...firstly I'd like to say that this website is an awesome resource for new players!

Have finally decided to get into BloodBowl after avoiding it for many years, thanks largely to the LRB. So now I'm building my own field and starting to collect some teams. I will mostly be playing casual games (at first anyway) with teams that I own myself. Thus I want to construct teams that are balanced against each other and that won't be improving over time. I can deal with that later. I'm also aiming to keep the teams in theme as much as possible.

What I have decided to do is give D6 random players on each team (not necessarily different players) a Star Player Roll before each game. This will allow us to use some of the Skills that aren't available from starting lineups. Obviously Fan Factor won't be too important to these teams.

So anyway I was hoping that I could get some advise about the following teams, as in whether they seem balanced, fun and worth collecting! Ive tried to choose teams that cover the different ways the game can be played.

Dwarf Team rerolls: 4 fan factor: 2
7 LongBeards, 2 Blitzers, 1 Troll Slayers, 1 Runner

Wood Elves rerolls: 2 fan factor: 2
7 Line-elves, 2 Catchers, 1 Thrower, 1 Wardancer

Orc Team rerolls: 3 fan factor: 2
5 Line-orcs, 3 Blitzers, 2 Black Orc Blockers, 1 Thrower, 2 Goblins

Human Team rerolls: 4 fan factor: 2
5 Linemen, 3 Blitzers, 2 Catchers, 1 Thrower

Goblin Team rerolls: 3 fan factor: 4
11 Goblins, 2 Trolls, Fungus the Loon, Nobba Blackwart

Undead Team (Vampire Counts) rerolls: 3 fan factor: 2
6 Zombies, 3 Wights, 2 Ghouls, Count Von Drakenborg

Thanks for looking :D

I think I would take a reroll less with Dwarfs and a slayer more. You might also consider using starting teams with a value of 1,100,000 instead of 1,000,000. This is often done for tournaments, and it gives you some extra skills/players in each team, which really helps them out, often.

Cheers,

R

Welcome to the group!

The Wood Elf team is one I have used before, and its very nice against beginning teams.

The only one I would change is the Orc team. Maybe add a Black Orc or two and drop a lineman?

This looks very strange to me. I'd not include such a powerful star player as the Count in that list if you do not want the undead to dominate completely. None of the other teams has anything to stop him. And where are the Mummies? Drop the Count, add 2 mummies and drop a Wight to compensate for the price.

Ah, and welcome to the show :)

Hmmm i really dont like the idea of mummies in an undead team - after all its really an egyptian thing and a bit out of fluff. I am a much bigger fan of the vampire counts theme, with the vampire as my player coach. I was hoping that the power of the count would be compensated for by the lack of mummies - is this not the case?
