Seems we are waiting until September to run another PBeM World Cup. So hows about a little ol' Gore Grail tourney to keep us PBeM hounds out of trouble in the mean time? :D

I was thinking about running it like this:

We might as well try out the LRB 5 (vault) rules for novelty value, just to see how they work. If everyone hates this idea, we can always revert to LRB 4, but I think testing out the tourney system with the new rules is interesting in itself.

Coaches can field a team with a TV of no more than 120. So this means you can "buy" skills for your players to start with, or leave money in the treasury with which to buy Inducements. No more than one skill per player, and no more than one doubles skill per team. No stat increases would be allowed at all. There would be no skill progression between games.

Games will be played in a group system, the exact details of which would be decided when we know how many coaches we have.

10 points for a win
5 points for a draw
0 points for a loss

Bonus Points: You get one bonus point for every touchdown or casualty (by blocking only) you score/cause upto a maximum of +4. So you can get 4 points from 1 touchdown and 3 casualties, or 6 touchdowns and 0 casualties.

I was thinking of team picks like this: everyone PMs me the team they want to use (in secret). If they are the only person to request that team then they can use it. But if 2 or more coaches ask to use the same team, then all of them would instead use a random team instead (unused teams come out of the hat first).

Cheers :D
Joe

Sweet. I'll play too, but to keep it fair I will play a random team.

Stunty teams will not be part of the random draw. :o

If it comes out as an LRB 4 tourney, I'm in. Under LRB 5, I'll pass thanks.

I'd be up for this. When are you planning on running it? I'm around for a fortnight and then I'll be away for 3 weeks. If that would cause huge hold-ups then I'm happy to let someone else take my place (if you'd have me anyway).

You could try Leipziger as another potential player...

Im up for it if someone can link me to the downloadable file for LRB 5.0. I might go for Rotters just to piss Valen off :smoking:

We can wait, or at least get started without you. :) Either way, you are in.

One more makes two groups of 4, and then we can get started.
