I'll have to sneak games in. The whole reason I use PBeM is 2 hours of my time really is commodity. Friday nights should work well every other week or EARLY on weekends as I get up at 6 am and my family does rise until 9 normally.Vesticle wrote:Woohoo! Tom in FUMBBL! I'll come back for that. =)
(I'm on sabbatical currently, after about my 4th straight game where my luck% was at least 20% lower than my oppoent's)
The reason I'm joining FUMBBL is that I agree with Christer that a live time league can crunch play test numbers faster. I've played Vampires for a very long time and was 3rd in my last tabletop league out of 30 teams using a Vampire roster (having 1 of 8 Vamps show up for a critical drive of a semi final game is not much fun (neither is then having the Vampire Lord trampoline trapped on the tying TD attempt), so my goal is to try and show that the BB Mag #4 Vamps are broken. I'm trusting my coaching style and lady luck to prove it by starting with a very aggressive 5 Vampire team (the FUMBBL already has a rookie 6 vamp version which doesn't have enough FF for those critical Kick-Off rolls IMO). If I start winning left and right then I have some proof to back up my belief that COFAB is the better way to go with the team. If I get my head handed to me ... well that will say something also.
HOWEVER, there is no way I'm using this team until the new OFAB is added. The 5 Vampire team is counting on the fact that even if everyone misses the first drive ... that just means I'm guaranteed 5 Vamps for the 2nd drive. To big of a gamble to try this team with the old OFAB rules that are currently programmed.
I doubt it will take Ski long and then we'll see how the Vamps do.

Another bug found: In the middle of a game, with just 9 players fit, I tried to field them all, but the game kept telling me that "minimum number of players is 8, you have 9" and refused to start until I removed a player. Then it let me play with 8 players.

Wierd, that the 3rd edition/BB Mag #1, rules for Big Guy teams ... how did that trigger?Moonsong wrote:Another bug found: In the middle of a game, with just 9 players fit, I tried to field them all, but the game kept telling me that "minimum number of players is 8, you have 9" and refused to start until I removed a player. The new OFAB rule should be in this weeks 4.4.

This is most likely caused by my attempt to limit the selection of GFI when a SHADOWING prompt is up. I believe I have this fixed now in 4.4. It will be out later this week.

I fixed a similar problem before. If/when this happens again pay attention to what happened just before the setup. This is probably caused by a player becoming available right before the drive starts (i.e. returns from heat exhaustion, take root, or OFAB). Thus the players are counted before this player returns, resulting in one less eligible player to field. I can track this down easier with more info. Was it after the half or after a TD? Try to provide info on what players were missing from the previous drive and why. Thanks.

Another bug is the following, if one of my trolls fails his stupidity roll when he is stunned, i click on a goblin and i can't do anything with him except end his turn, so he is also useless that turn. I don't know if this only happens when the troll is stunned or if its every time the roll fails, but from my memory i think its only happened when the troll is stunned.
I believe this explains why my goblins lose, and the amount of 1s they manage to roll, at least they are consistant.

I remember you telling me about this before but this time it registered what the prob was. I found this and fixed it, should be in 4.4.Another bug is the following, if one of my trolls fails his stupidity roll when he is stunned, i click on a goblin and i can't do anything with him except end his turn, so he is also useless that turn. It pays to keep letting me know about these problems each time they happen until I fix them. Sometimes I'll get a bug report I can't reproduce with the current info and when I don't hear anymore about it I tend to think it isn't happening that often and move it down in priority.

I would _really_ like a better file format than the current HTML swamp or M$ shreadsheets. But I guess this is fuel for another thread...neoliminal wrote:Yes, a decent DTD would be wonderful. Perhaps a project for NAF.christer wrote:Come to think of it, an XML file would be a nice way to output the game result and statistics.. There already exists parsers for most programming languages for XML, so it should do just fine.
Now, coming up with a good DTD would be useful.

There is a new 4.4 patch on the same download page as the original game download.
Main:

The 4.4 patch changes to the new OFAB. Hopefully fixes the GFI not working sometimes problem. Adds an option to turn off AV rolls on failed GFIs. Some bug fixes.
Download the "patch4_4.zip". Unzip the contents to the original install directory. It will overwrite the "bbowl.jar", "readme.txt" files.

Patch 4.4
So far I've found the update great. Haven't been able to find any bugs and the GFI I got narrowed down as well. Found it only happened when playing a Network Game ie against an opponent on another system. It never occurred when playing on the same PC. I played 3 games with probably close to 80 GFI rolls and made every one.
Just room for thought

Yes the GFI problem was a network game only problem. Are you saying it has happened to you in the 4.4 patch?

Hello Ski Junkie,
Just a bug I found two patches ago. 4.2 don't know if you sorted it. When a bonehead or Stupid roll is failed the player seems to retain his TZ. I only tried this twice... but i think its happening. It resulted in a very complicated block assist situation going very weird.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
cheers,
Vorner23
