One-turn goal with a rookie Gutter Runner?

The topic says it all. I've noticed some mentions to this possibility in some other topics and have thought about it. Only possibility I've come up with is some sort of pushback "thingie" involving *obviously* lots of complicated pushbacks.
Is this right or is there some other obvious thing I have overlooked and why is everyone only refering to skavens while talking about this and not WEs?
Oh, and not looking for tactical advice, just curious.

Yes it involves several intricate pushabcks.
I'm actually not sure exactly what the set up is but I'm sure somebody around here can show if yu want know that badly.

Yes, there is a way to score a one turn TD with skaven gutter runners, as well as with WE catchers or any player with 9 in ma....
It is actually not that complicated, although you need a reasonable amount of luck (or rather absence of bad luck...) to succeed.
As far as I remember (the last time I applied that tactic was quite some time ago...) what one needs to do is carry out first a blitz, then a block (and not the opposite as one would think...)
First of all you need to occupy all the squares where an opponent in the line of scrimmage will end up if blocked/blitzed from the back (i.e. by going into the opponent's half of the pitch). Then basically you blitz from the back the player you targetted. Since all the 'pushing-back' zones will be occupied, you can decide to push him onto a player of you choice, the latter who should himself be pushed into the opponent's half. Obviously, this player should be your catcher, gutter runner, etc. In this way, you will have moved your ball carrier one square closer to the opponent's endzone.
Next, you will need to move a couple more players to cover the 'pushing-back' squares of the guy you blitzed previously. Then, you can block this guy with one of your players adjacent to him, pushing the former...
...onto your ball carrier obviously!
That makes one more square for you...
I hope I was more or less clear.
- Looks like you got your tactical advice after all...

Actually, you can even do it with rookie dwarves, where the fastest player is MA6.

The reason Skaven are mentioned most in this regard is that it is easier to generate a OTS for Skaven because they can get +1 MA on a double (very long legs).
Wood Elves need to rely on luck to give them a +1 MA.
Other teams can do it too if they're very lucky, our league has a human catcher OTS.
One thing i'm not looking forward to is the first Were OTS

Read the topic again Munkey:
rookie gutter runner.
- that means that there is no question of +1MA gained.

Here's hoping this works:
Code: Select all
----|a------
--b-|cde----
---R|-ghi---
============ LoS
----|t--o--o
----|-------
----|-------
----|a------
--b-|cde----
---R|-ghi---
============ I blocks u to x or knockdown
----|t--u--v
----|----x--
----|-------
----|a------
--b-|cde----
--7R|xghi---
============ h blitzes t x (pushback) and moves to 7
--6-|t-1---v
---5|4-2-u--
----|-3-----
----|a------
--bx|cde----
--hR|tg-i---
============ g pushes t to x
----|-----v
----|----u--
----|-------
----|a------
--bt|cde----
--hR|g--i---
============ a pushes t into R
----|-----v
----|----u--
----|-------
----|-------
--ba|cde----
-1ht|g--i---
============ b moves into position and c pushes t into R
--2R|-----v
----|----u--
----|-------
----|-------
---a|-de----
--hc|g--i---
============ R is now 11 spaces from a TD
--bt|-----v
---R|----u--

I realise the question was about
rookie gutter runners but it was asked why these are the main topic of OTS discussions. I was merely pointing out that this is because Skaven are the team most assoiciated with OTS for the reasons mentioned in my post.
As Zombie pointed out this can actually be done with a lot of players with the correct blocks, it just gets harder as the MA goes down.

Similar but harder to do.

Without Frenzy or a quick snap you can score with MA 8.
With a single Frenzy or quick snap, its MA7, with two frenzys MA6. However I think MA6/7 start running into problems of not having enough players to force the secondary push.

{edit: nevermind. Ian just chimed in about Frenzy. That makes sense, now. }

How can you do it with less than MA 9 if you use your blitz to get the opponent on your side of the LoS (only way to do so) and all your playes that can block have to be on your side of the LoS? Wow, that sounds unintelligible.
Once you use your blitz, how can you throw a block against any player that is not on the Line of Scrimmage? Are you suggesting you push 2 or 3 players a couple of spaces in?

One turn scores get a lot easier when your ballcarrier has sidestep.

You use your blitz to push on of your opponents on the LOS back into your half, then you can block them to push your ball carrier into his half.
Remember that once you've pushed him back into his own half you can still block him once putting your ball carrier 3 squares in.

Thanks for the info everyone.
I had something like that in mind but approached it from the wrong direction (as in starting with a block).
Shame you're not allowed to block your own players.
Dwarven one-turners would be a piece of cake
