Skill for a Star Player Witch

Hi,

I need some advices again please. Last game my second player reached star player status. It s my witch elf and i m absolutely not sure what to give her. Her skills are:

Block, Dodge, Frenzy, Jump Up, Dauntless, Piling On, +normal Skill.

First i thought about side step cause its annoying for every opponent. But she isnt the one who pushes guys out of bounds and if then most time with a blitz so i wouldnt need this skill for that. So what should i take? Pro, Leap, Tackle, Side Step or Sure Feet? That would be the ones i m thinking of.

Tackle.

Normally i'd agree, but this bitch seems to be mainly aimed at hitting ST4+ players, and making sure they don't get back up (dauntless, piling on). Those guys rarely have dodge. So i guess that i'd reluctantly go for pro to reroll dauntless rolls and pushbacks.

I'd say Pro as well, but I'd consider side step so the big guys you are harassing can't push you around either. Block + Dodge + Side Step can infuriate a Wild Animal coach and will probably bother an ogre or troll coach a little bit as well.

Surely tackle.

Hard choice as all the three suggestions so far are good.
Here is what i think:
Tackle: If you are playing against and blocking lots of Blodgers.
Pro: If you are plaing against and blocking lots of Str4+ players.
SideStep: if you are pushing many players into the crowd.

Choose witch one fits your playing style best i say.

Sidestep then you can push opponents out of bounds without having to worry so much about getting pushed in turn.

Remember you have to follow up even if you get a POW.

i think all 3 of the options listed here so far (tackle, pro, sidestep) are pretty good..you certainly couldn't really go wrong with any of them. However, I think the final choice comes down to exactly how you use her.

If she's pusing people out of bounds a lot, then ian's sidestep option is definitely the way to go....people LOVE to retaliate in kind when they lose a guy to the crowd.

Tackle is the way to go if you find yourself against a lot of dodgers. As zombie said, she looks like she's designed to go after the bigger guys, but that doesn't mean she always would. there are any number of uses for a witch elf with st4 and a bucket of skills...sometimes in a given turn that includes hitting some dude with dodge. If you find yourself doing that a lot, go with tackle.

Pro is a good skill if neither of those 2 things apply to you so much. It could be very nice for use on that failed dauntless roll, or a host of other things (2nd failed dodge in a turn, etc)

In closing I'll add one more skill that hasn't been mentioned: Leap. If you trust the ag4 and leap, take it. You'd be surprised the options that opens up for you sometimes (unless you've played with wood elves a lot and then you already know).

Ultimately its your call, and like I said, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

She doesn't have ST4, she has dauntless. Hence pro.

Side step sounds like a good and safe choice to me in view of the reasons given in this thread - you will be very hard to push out, and you can also hit back those who tried to bring you down.
However, I would also consider leap - with frenzy, that witch elf could work as a cage breaker who has two shots at the ball carrier. You can then finish that ball carrier off by piling him on, making sure he'll never carry the ball again... :smoking:

Leaping into a cage with Frenzy makes life more difficult as it makes it easier for you to end up with the 2nd block being 1/2 dice.

Yep thats really right. To break a good built cage with frenzy you need to be very lucky not to get 2 dices againt yourself. I ll better use my AG5, Leap, Strip Ball Blitzer to get balls out of cages.

I still havent decided wich skill to give her. But thanks to you i know it ll be side step or tackle. Pro is nice with dauntless. But side step would always be a good choice for a witch. But i m leaning towards tackle cause of the only reason that my team only has two tacklers so far. The rest of my team is here:

With tackle she could handle those st4+ guys and those little blodge catchers. May be a good choice even if there wont be much dodgers in our next league i think....

And how lovely it gets for the Witch Elf. Lying on her back in cage with all those nasty oponents ready to foul her off the pitch with her only having a AV of 7! Suicide I'd call it! Lots of assists to a foul and maybe even a dirty player to execute the definit injury! A pretty bit expensive to abuse a Witch Elf for that! IMO.
