Which Gutter Runner do you find more usefull?

Hi,

First of all I read the sticky and used the search function.

I played a new skaven team yesterday
1 rat Ogre
1 Storm Vermin
2 Gutter Runner
1 Thrower
6 Linerats
3 RR
7 FF

Everything went well as I won 3-1 vs Amazons, Got +1 FF but only 40k.

To the point
One gutter runner scored 2 td as got promoted, and I rolled a dream double (not the impossible dream of double 6).

Now I'm torn between Very Long Legs and Dauntless (nerves of steel is good too I know...)

i'd love to have a dauntless-horns gutter runner as it fits my playstyle a lot (read I blitz with 2 dices against my GR) but a 1 turn scorer is easier to develop in a short term (only need sprint and no double).

So I think I'll go for the 1 turn scorer as it is a team I'll only play very occasionally...

But deep inside I think the Dauntless Horns (Block Strip Ball Tackle) is more usefull

IMO Only go down the 1 turn route if you get +MA.

what ianwilliams said.

even without horns, moving a possible 10 squares and 1d blitzing is lovely/surprising.... and funny if it works :)

because there are better things to do with a double then vll?

depending on the situation of course, but generally, building a one-turner with VLL is a waste.

all imao, of course.

Actually you have 3 times more chances to roll a double than a non double 10...
Flyin' Fling: what ianwilliams said.
Actually you say the opposite as he implies that I shouldn't take the MA upgrade...

100th post here! Woohoo

Hem I do agree that Dauntless should be the way to go (some might claim horns might be better but dauntless is more flexible at the cost that it will fail sometimes).

Maybe Ian wants to say that once you have your dauntless guy you have 2 more chances to gat MA increase on the other GR... And that's why the Dauntless guy should be built first...

Scoring when defending wins games. Develop the team to turn your opponent over makes your team much harder to beat that having a 1 turner.

So on a double I'd take Dauntless rather than VLL.

If I get 6 & 4 I'd take the +MA (and follow it up with 1 turner skills). On a 5&5 I'd still probably take Dauntless.

BTW you can score in 1 turn with a rookie GR anyway - if you know how.

I agree with Ian. On a double 5 a would go for dauntless. It'll make this GR usefull in offence and defence.
The one turner is only an offence player. If you field him in defence your opponent will do everything to destroy him.

Maybe he'll try everything to destroy the dauntless GR, too :D

Gratuitous boasting: I pulled that off with my rookie skaven team a few games ago to go up at halftime.

Thanks, Ian. You finally game me a good opening to pat myself on the back.

maybe gratuitous boasting for you, painful experience for me - the final of our league season in Bugmans the night before The Blood Bowl :(

problem is that now the horns/dauntless guy takes 2 doubles rolls instead of only 1, and the one-turner is still 1.

But he's already a 2 turn scorer, but he can't HIT anywhere near as well...

I say Dauntless/Horns.

The one with horns + dauntless is more useful, but he should be since he requires two doubles, and the other one only requires a double or a 10.
