I wouldn't go for a Troll myself. I prefer Minotaurs because, though they always have to move first, they always get to move. Also, Minotaurs can get Physical Abilities, which is a big plus in my book.

I think that I would be conservative with respect to your skill choices. I'd go for Block on your Bull Centaur with +1 MA. I'd go for sure hands on your Hobgoblin with +1 AG. This will give you an excellent ball carrier and you'll have the other Hobgoblin with sure hands as backup. (I think that all AG 3 teams should have at least two guys with sure hands.... It is really quite frustrating and embarrassing to have to burn through your rerolls trying to pick up the ball.)

Best,

If that's all you've got I'd take a couple more Hob Gobs. They're useful for sticking on the line as cannon fodder if nothing else, and Hobgobs do break a little too easily for my liking only to have four.

Yes, although I do have a mino and if you leave him in the backfield, he's not such a pain. When he gets Block, he's very valuable.

For the Bull, Block is good, so is Break Tackle (you now can move 10 squares !!!!). On doubles, I'd go with Catch: 2 chances for a 4+ catch is pretty good odds to me!

For the Hobbo, with AG 4, I wouldn't bother taking Sure Hands. If you roll a 1, spend a RR. Block is always good, but with AG4, Pass Block is tempting (5+ Inteerceptions !). On doubles, make him an official QB : Nerves of Steel, Pass, Accurate, etc.

If it can help you, here's a link to my roster

I like the proposal made that the Hobgoblin gets Pass Block. A dude in my league has 1 of those and he is extremely annoying...

Take the minotaur - definitely !
Stick it in the backfield - and pick your spot. Having a ST 5 (6 when blitzing) in the backfield is a wonderful thing. Dont set him up on the line of scrimmage - he's got no business there. He's a magnificient blitzer and should be used as such. He can punch a hole in most defensive lines ... holes that can be exploited by your Hobbo's or Bull Centaurs. Once he gets block he's not much of a liability.

The troll is not as effective in my opinion. It is just as slow as your average Chaos Dwarf Block ... and he's got that annoying bonehead trait which will on average leave him standing around looking stupid with no tacklezones a couple of times per game. I'd say those nice guarding tackling dwarves do a better job holding the line

Good luck

I would take the troll, he is much more dependable than the mino. With block and piling on he is a casualty machine

I cant believe people are so scared of that Wild Animal trait. The Troll will on average fail to do anything at least a couple of times per game leaving a big gaping holde in your line (no TZ's).

The Mino on the other hand can make ST 6 frenzy blitz-moves taking out just about any ball carrier or corner in a cage or whatever. Once this bad boy has block he is invaluable ... and he's a perfectly fine candidate for pilin on too ... not to mention physical abilities. Imagine a doubleroll and the Mino has claws ...

I've had lots of succes with the wild animal playing Chaos Dwarf and Skaven. That high strength Frenzy is a godsend.

MINO ALL THE WAY

You have the bull centaurs for high strength sweepers. The troll helps your chaos dwarfs survive

I guess it's a matter of defensive tactics then. I prefer someone stronger (and with build-in frenzy) to play sweeper. 'Cause if the ballcarrier has a guardman or two helping out ... it's needed.

ah well.

The way I see it, is the Mino is a born backfield sweeper. He can (Pretty much) reach any square in your half if positioned correctly, and can take down pretty much anybody (ST 6 and Frenzy usually sees to that).

BC are scoring threats and ball carrier harriers. They should be streaking into the opponents backfield to annoy the ball carrier, if they take him out, score with the BC, if the Mino takes out the ball carrier in your backfied, your BC's are in good scoring positions...

Best of both worlds!

AG 4 Hobgoblin must get leap, most other actions will only fail on a 1, unless you play a passing game, and leap is a great skill for an AG4 player.

Oops!! hold fire have you rolled a double etc etc. if general Skill only then, Block will make him a good ball carrier and provide some protection against being blitzed

I'm in the Dodge camp when it comes to a doubles roll on the BC 8)

AG4 Hobgob? Pro (for passing and catching) and Block to keep him alive a little longer :D

Buy a troll for sure.
A soon as i got one he was injured in his first three games and regened them all, some quite serious, otherwise i would have had to apoth him, in those games my ag3 centaurs also were SI and for these i used the apoth ;]
so take the troll.
