Advice on next skill

Hello everyone, I'm quite new to these boards even though I've been lurking for some time, reading and watching the tons of useful information pile up in mounds of...something :D .

Anyway, I've been playing Bowl Blood for quite some time, having played with all the elvish teams, Chaos and Skaven. Right now though I have chosen to retry a Dark Elf team.

Here's my dilemma:

I just received a new skill for my thrower. His skills are Pass/Accurate/Sure Hands and his AGI has increased by 1. Now I have to pick another skill for him but I'm not quite sure what to take. I've been thinking Safe throw but I really wanted to get some veterans feedback.

And one last question too:

If one of my linemen gets a level, should I pick Block or Dodge first?

Safe throw is handy, specially if your passing over elves :/
Dump off may also be worth considering, depends how well you cover your thrower.
Then maybe strong arm or nerves of steel on a double, strong arm won't make much difference as he is ag5 allready ;]

As for the linemen mix and match between block and dodge.

Alot of people would not choose safe throw, but i certainly would. It will allow u to throw from anywhere to anywhere instead of moving the thrower to find a non intercept corridor.

As someone who grooms 2 interceptors for his Elf (Dark) teams, I can tell you that Safe Throw is good insurance. I've missed out on many SPPs because of it.

That said, what about block or something else offensive. Often, throwers find themselves deep and can be the only thing between the goal line and the opposition in the case of a picked off ball.

I agree with Snots. Give your Thrower some offensive potential and help protect him in the future with Block.

As for the lineman, depending on what you have on your other players and your style of play: offense - take block, defense - take dodge.

In a hard hitting league that you find your linemen needing to hit or be hit you should take Block. But if you need your guys to be mobile and tieing up opponents so your ball carrier can walk in, take Dodge.

I would give him Safe Throw.

Kick is also a great skill. Your thrower really doesn´t many skills to be a good thrower so therefore I like to give them kick.

As for the Line Elf it is really a matter of taste and how you play. I almost always give them block first.

Since I'm in your league White Coco I'd say give up now :D

Otherwise get safe throw, because with 2 other elf teams, amazons, norse and a skaven player in the league, alot of us have pass blockers.

I agree with the majority... go for Safe Throw on the thrower.

As for linemen, I tend to go for Block for some and Dodge for others on the first skill (though one gets Kick). After that I start to specialize. Some become Blodgers, while some with Dodge get Pass Block. If I roll a double on a guy with Block he gets Dauntless, while others get Guard (and one gets Leader).

Cheers,
Martyn

just not to say like everyone, what do you all think of pass block fro that thrower ?

Good idea neverdodge. I like Pass Block on him or Strip Ball, Block, or Tackle. I've had my thrower get overpowered several times when he was the only one who could try to stop the score. Pass Block may give 3 extra squares for the pick or Tackle Zone. That can't be bad.

Why not Dodge?

Why not give your thrower dodge or block? especially w/ AG5. That way he can dodge out of trouble if your opponent puts some TZs on you. Also, if you are on defense, and the ball is loose, then you can dodge into some TZs, use your sure hands to pick up the ball, dodge back out, and make a throw. I've done this quite frequently with my AG5 players. It usually infuriates the hell outta my opponents!

Wow never thought about Pass Block for a passer, hmmm That would be sweet move.

I have used Dump Off with a DE passer a couple of times. Saved my ass twice in one game.

If you roll doubles take NoS. It is very helpful.
