Right then as we seem to get a lot of questions about starting skills for players (more comman an occurance than asking for what 5th skill a player should have for example) I thought it would be handy to have a small reference here like the rules faq. So i was thinking for each team have links to team related threads and then for each player type put what skills they might take on a normal and double roll. Nothing to indepth but a little handy starting guide>

Amazon: I played Amazons in to leagues and this is what I would suggest

Linewoman
normal: Block, Tackle (one with kick), Strip Ball or Pro
double: Guard, Mighty Blow, Side Step
Catcher
normal: Block, Side Step, Sure Feet, Sprint
double: Jump Up, Nerves of Steel
Thrower
normal: Sure Hands, Accurate, Block
double: Strong Arm
Blitzer
normal: Guard, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Multiple Block ( after dauntless)
double: Stand Firm, Dauntless (only one time)

Human: I played humans in three leagues this is what I would suggest

Linemen
normal: Block (one with kick), Tackle, Pro
double: Dodge or Guard
Catcher
normal: Block, Sure Feet, Sprint or Side Step, Diving Catch
double: Jump Up or Nerves of Steel
Thrower
normal: Accurate, Safe Throw or Hail Mary Pass, Accurate
double: Strong Arm
Blitzer
normal: Guard, Mighty Blow
double: Dodge, Stand Firm

Norse: I played Norse only for nine single matches but I would suggest this

Linemen
normal: Tackle (one with kick), Dirty Player, Pro
double: Guard, Dodge, Frenzy
Catcher
normal: Dodge, Side Step, Sure Feet, Sprint
double: Jump Up
Thrower
normal: Sure Hands, Accurate, Safe Throw
double: Strong Arm
Blitzer
normal: Piling On, Mighty Blow, Guard
double: Dodge, Stand Firm

I don't suggest anything at the other teams because I don't play them myself I know them only from the other coaches in our league.

Are you going to take all our ideas and put them into the above original post at some point?

My views on a couple of elf teams:

Dark Elf:

Lineman
Normal: Dodge, Block, Side Step
Doubles: Guard

Blitzers
Normal: Dodge, after that develop for different roles
Doubles: depends on the role
(Note: You get four blitzers, so some should be catcher types while others blitzer types. Compare with Dragon Warriors and Lion Warriors on the High Elf team to get ideas)

Witch Elf
Normal: Block, Tackle
Doubles: Mighty Blow

Thrower
Normal: Accurate, Sure Hands, Dump Off
Doubles: Strong Arm, Nerves of Steel

High Elf:

Lineman
Normal: Dodge, Block, Side Step
Doubles: Guard

Dragon Warrior
Normal: Dodge, Tackle
Doubles: Mighty Blow, Dauntless

Lion Warrior
Normal: Dodge, Block
Doubles: Nerves of Steel

Phoenix Warrior
Normal: Accurate, Sure Hands, Dump Off
Doubles: Strong Arm, Nerves of Steel

Cheers,
Martyn

Come on, this is a forum we are supposed to discuss things.
This sticky is just all the questions gathered in one big post, so we have to disuss all skill choices at the same time.
If we had to disuss all skill choices at the same time, we would never finish, because there is so many aspects:

What legaue are you in?
What type of team do you play?
What type of skills do you like?
Which skills has you chosen for the other players on your team?
etc. etc.

It's not possible to answer all these questions at the same time.

So if you guys who are tired, of answering questions about team development then don't answer on the thread.
A player should be able to look at what every player has to say about his skill choice.

There's no final conclusion of what to take for a player on your team.

Yer the point was to collate this information. There are allready threads discussing a lot of skill vs skill and if all instances were added here this thread would get very long and be hard to navigate through.

Also there are times when you are playing a race you are unfamilia with and you might not get a response to a post right away, this will at least show you what skills are comman to that player type.

Only one I have problem with is Jump Up. I've found that once they get blodge they don't get knocked down all that often. Jump up only comes into play rarely. NoS & Dump Off would be my choice of doubles.

Thanks... :D
And if I have to be ohnest (I can't spell that damn word), it's quite a good thread ( and it must have been taking long time to write to :o )

As a WE coach I can see that you are having trouble with the WD and cathcer, ok:
WD
normal: tackle or strip ball
double: guard(yes it is effective), mighty blow
Catcher:
normal: block, leap, side step, sprint
double: NoS

And pray for you get any kind of advance with these guys. That's the cool thing about WE; all advances are good.

I always try to develop a Ghoul with Sure hands, Sure Feet & Sprint. You dont even need a stat increase or double to get their, and he's perfect for dodging out of a Cage from 10 Squares out for a Touchdown, If by chance you can compliment it with block, then you can Blitz/Dodge out of the cage also.
