I just played the semifinal in our first season of Blood Bowl with my Ogre team and after a tough beat after six turns of overtime against the Orc-team that have won all of their matches this season. Although my season is over with due to that loss I do look forward to the next season but in this last match my snotlings finally started to improve and I would like hear a little of what you would choose if you were me.

The teams in my league have all played 8-10 matches and consist of the successful orc-team, a Saven team, an Elf team and a Norse team and my Ogres.

This is my team after season one:

Improvements
#1 Ogre 2spp
#2 Ogre 37spp Block, Guard, Dodge,
#3 Ogre 19spp Guard, Strong Arm
#4 Ogre 6spp Guard
#5 Ogre 6spp Guard
#6 Ogre 11spp Break Tackle

And my snotlings
#9 Snotling 16spp AG+1 NEW SKILL?
#10 Snotling 9 spp NEW SKILL?
#12 Snotling 0spp
#13 Snotling 6spp Catch
#14 Snotling 7spp NEW SKILL?

As you can see I have three skills to take from the agility category. Of course I have some ideas about what to pick but I would like to hear your opinions/advice before I decide on anything

Thanks in advance..

Sprint for the AG+1 guy to score TDs, diving tackle for the other two. It's the only way snots can form any sort of defence.

Sprint you say? 1 extra square of movement would surely be welcome, but given my luck with go for it and landing, Sure feet would probably be more helpful since the team reroll almost always will be used on the landing. I have incredibly bad luck with my TTM-actions. The pass is never fumbled but the bastards either scatter three squares closer to the starting position or (more common) fail the landing. If there only was a skill that would reroll or give a +1 modifier on landings (Which I for one, think Sure feet could do if you think about the name). I also had considerations about picking Catch for the AG 4 snotling to have a good ball receiver if I can develop my undeveloped Ogre or the one with strong arm into a decent thrower. I long for a AG+1 on an ogre... :)

Diving Tackle was the skill I was thinking of for my other snotlings. If you only have one, you know who the opposing players will blitz until the snotling is eliminated, so I agree that it would be wise to take the chance to get two directly. But I am also tempted to get a sneaky git...

Decisions, decisions... Thanks for your advices, if you have more or others have please tell me...

With sure feet if you land outside of range you can't make it. With sprint, you have to trust the dice, but if the dice don't like you then with ogres you are in trouble.

DT on all the snots as first skill apart from a scorer (who you now have).

Leader on doubles, take the AG but not other stat increases.

Goblin Doom Divers as a new Star Player or Secret Weapon with a reroll to land and/or +1 to armour/injury if they hit a player!!!!

I know that the dice must be with you when you play ogres. Learned that the hard way because I started with to many ogres and to few rerolls, but now I'm finally set with 4.

Okay, I have chosen diving tackle on the two without any other skills, but what are your thoughts on a second skill? Jump-up, Sprint, Sure feet, Sneaky git or Catch?

MA+1 I think is ok to take especially considering that some of you suggests sprint, but I agree about not taking ST+1. Or were you talking about the Ogres?

Oh, +1S on an Ogre is golden. But on a Snotling, it's a huge waste.

And secondary skills? I'd go with Sure Feet. Though not many will ever get there. To be honest, I'd try not to skill Snotlings too much and focus purely on the Ogres.

Sure Feet over Sprint in my book with a +AG snot. Make yourself a little luck.

I agree that +1 St is a huge waste on a snotling, and to be honest I would probably not take it on an Ogre either as doubles are worth so much for them. A change to get block or something else that everyone else can get that are much needed such. In my wildest dreams and hopes I wish for my best ogre Block, Dodge, Guard will roll another double and if that happens I'm thinking about Sure hands to make him a reasonably good player to pick up the ball with, and an awesome ball-carrier. Any other suggestions?

I played ogres at a recent tourney and found that giving the snotlings Sneaky Git was a real bonus. They tend to get picked on, and so removing as many of the opposition through fouling is the way to go!

Time for a new season. A season consists of 8 matches before play-off so every match counts. My team consists of six ogres and six snotlings atm and I've got a TV of 160. I've got 100 000 in treasury. My first match is against a Elf team which I've met two times during the first season, with 1 win and 1 loss as results. That team has TV 150 so they are bound to get 100 000 in inducements (He'll probably take two Bloodweiser or an extra apothecary). My first instinct was to buy two snotlings with my money to bring me up to 14 players and still be under 150 000 in inducements (No need to give him more advantages right?), but now that I know that he is the opponent I was thinking about skipping those snotlings and instead spend all my money as petty cash on the Chainsaw goblin Nobbla to take out his Blodging players. Last time we met I was the TV underdog and recruited him with great results, and those extra snotlings will probably not be as needed as they would be against a more bashy team. So atm I'm weighing my options and would be glad to hear your thoughts....

Spending all your hard-earned cash on a Star-Player, that is going to be blitzed (and probably KO'ed) in one of the first turns, seems like a bad investment to me. Using gold from the treasury to buy the wielder of a secret weapon for a drive, that may last only a few turns, is risky, isn't it? You've got no extra money to purchase a bribe.
I don't really like Nobbla. He was a total waste of inducements the last time I chose him. I'd save the money for another re-roll, but my ogres have only 2 of those. How much re-rolls have you got?

I've got 4 rerolls, and the last time I had Nobbla he was on for 6 turns, sending two blodging elf blitzers to the dead & injured box and a catcher to KO-box. The key to that success was to let him hit with the chainsaw, then put two guarding ogres and a couple of snotlings to avoid giving them the chance to hit him with anything more than a 2-dice against block.

The fact is that I thus far hasn't suffered any massive injuries so I'm atm one of the top 3-teams TV-wise. So the money doesn't feel that important atm. Of course, if one of my Ogres is killed I am sure to feel a lot different I suppose.

Buy the snotlings. Otherwise you'll quickly be players down, which against elves is fatal. Chainsaws can be amazing or rubbish.

Meant to say take +1 move on a snot, but not strength or armour.
