Hello,

so i will play in a french league with 8 teams. I will play wood elves and others teams are: chaos dwarves (with Htark), dark elves, high elves, dwarf, chaos (with borak), undead (with the vampire champion, i forgot his name...) and orcs (with Morg). So it's seem to don't be the year to play elves in my league

We play with the 3rd Ed and we allow only one star player per team.

Before knowing the differents teams in the league i setup my team like that:

1 WD
10 Linemen
FF 8
RR 2

Most of players choose a RR=2 and FF are 4,1,9,5,1,5 and me 8.
I Will play in this order against, Orc, undead, High Elves, Dwarfs, Chaos, Dark Elves, Chaos Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs, Dark Elves, Chaos, Dwarfs, High Elves, undead, orc.

So there are a lot of strong team... so my question is, do i have to change of team??? Or do y have to have a strong player like deeproot strongbranch for my first game:

Deeproot
10 Lineelves
RR 1
FF 7
Or do i have to change nothing???

I'd strongly recommend that you adopt the LRB 1.3 (free download from GW's site) as it fixes most of the worst features of 3rd ed (excessive fouling).

I'd stick with your original list (WD & 10 Line elves). Your relatively high FF should ensure you don't lose too many pitch invasions & Get the Refs while getting a decent income to replace lost players and buy new ones.

You've been given a reasonable draw for your first few games - although if the Orcs get lucky you could enter a negative cycle. Thankfully the 3rd game against the HE should give you a reasonable "rest" game.

Basically you'll want to protect your players as much as possible from fouls and nasty blocks and try to use your superior speed and agility to run rings around your opponents.

I agree with ianwilliams, you'll enjoy your third match... although I remember a Halfling team exploding the LoS of the Orc player not so long ago : one niggling injury and one MNM (miss next match)... The motto is : keep your players far from brawls, they won't last in it for long.

Wood Elves (as all low-armored teams) are often seen as inadequate in a "strong-arms" league. Your problem will be to keep players alive long enough to buy your apothecary, and then only all your positional players (i.e the second Wardancer, then one thrower at least and your two catchers). Problem is, they cost a lot ! Try to get money-boosting cards (random events, then dirty tricks).

About your team, I tried the same one few times ago. Stepping aside a persistant bad luck curse, they are a difficult team to play with. Not so resistant, not resistant at all... Are you sure you don't want to try HE ? Danger is, you begin with too much player without block nor dodge. Even a 2-dice your choice block is not sure with them, and a 2+ dodge will sooner or later fail.. intantly followed by the usual foul. Believe me, your team rerolls will get burned very, very, very fast...

For Deeproot, I'd say no. Sure he's a good asset for a LoS, but that's all. In defence, he'll never be able to run after a Gutter Runner or Ghoul on the loose, and if he ever goes down, you'll see him more than once alone in the middle zone while action in anywhere else, with no hope to join in time.
In offense, remind me his move ? Sure, you'll crack open almost any LoS, but a reasonable opponent will put expendable goons on the front line to be flown at all four winds, and keep its blockers and safeties safely out of reach of the treeman's righteous fury. He may only become an asset if you can give Right Stuff to one of your catchers, making the pair a one-turn scoring machine. In this optic, maybe buy it later in the season.

That's right!!! 3rd Ed is still in France... i think it's due to the language because it's well known that French are the best in english

Thanks a lot for all these advices, i will try WE for my first match. And i f i'll have to much injuryed player i think i will try an other team like HE...
