Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
Ultimately a lot comes down to format and inducements available with high end Vamp build.
I'm sure there are situations in which The_Provocateur or Tarabaralla would run with more or less Vamps/RR/Thralls depending on a lot of factors.
5 Vamps 4 RR does seem a nice benchmark though.

5 Vamps and 4RRs seems to work well, in my observation.Jimmy Fantastic wrote:Ultimately a lot comes down to format and inducements available with high end Vamp build.

Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
So things are going well for the Vampires at the minute! I'm on a two game winning streak after some unlucky losses and am in contention for the play-offs which I would never have expected! I'm at a bit of a crossroads though...
Here is my team roster: http://www.dbbl.org/handler.php?type=ro ... detailed=0
A couple of hurt Thralls but on the whole it looks like this...
Vampire 1: +AG, DODGE (2 SPP from BLODGE)
Vampire 2: +ST, BLODGE
Vampire 3: BLODGE
Vampire 4: DODGE (9 SPP from BLODGE)
10 Thralls (One with KICK, two 1SPP from getting either BLOCK or WRESTLE)
4 RR
Apothecary
1 Cheerleader & 1 Ass. Coach
I recently replaced a strength busted Thrall and picked up the 1 CL & 1 AC to give me more chance of getting those Cheering Fans and Brilliant Coaching Re-Rolls. I have 80k left so if my next game goes well I will be able to afford either another Vampire or another Re-Roll.
Looking at that roster, what would you suggest? I'm leaning towards another Vampire but my current Vampires are already chomping through my Thralls at a rate of knots. Last match I caused more casualties to myself than my opponent did (and I caused none to him! Not even a KO! ... Dice. Am I right?!?)

Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
I'd add thralls and wait for all of the vampires to reach blodge before adding more (reason being that they use less RRs that way).
I'd also go for wrestle on the thralls, to get ball carriers down

So you think I should go up to the full 16 by adding 2 extra Thralls? I'm a bit worried about my TV getting to high... I would already be giving the mega-blodger/guard Amazon team I'm yet to play 150 as it is

Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
I think I'd stay on 14 players to be honest.
I thought the question was either vamp or thrall, but that you were set on getitng one of the two.

Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
No, it was Vampire or Re-Roll... I wasn't sure if it would be worth getting either. Or, if it was which would help me out more.
On reflection I think I will wait until I have at least 3 skills on all of my Vampires before I pick up another Vampire player. Until then I'll just replace my busted up Thralls.

I'd keep the money until a Vamp invariably fails that re-gen on a SI or dead result.

Re: Advice on play style for starting Vampires
Hi Mate,
Hope the vamp love is going well. I admit they rack up the TV as we spoke of before but a developed vamp team is great to play. Only one downside... inducements against you. They can change a game. My second season vamps had inducements against all the time and a rogue wizard, extra apo, Halfling chef, or star player etc can really put a crimp in your chances. It is certainly something to think about.
I'd thought I'd show you how I finished up with them and the page for my team:
http://www.hdwsbbl.co.uk/teams/nachthaften-nightlords/
http://www.hdwsbbl.co.uk/teams/nachthaf ... ds/roster/
I ended with 5 vamps, 10 thralls, 5 RR. However looking back I'd probably ditch a RR to reduce costs a bit. Your team looks good though. Keep going with them and remember Hypno gaze is your friend and don't worry about the thrall casualties. That'll happen. One game it will be "Blood lust? what blood lust?" the next it's "right. Who can I get from the crowd to replace these useless idiots"
The best bits of advice I was given was (1) If you BL do you want to activate the other vamps? Are they in a good enough position that you don't need to? If so don't (2) Hypno gaze is your friend. Use it always when just moving next to an opponent player. It forces your opponent to do something with them.
Good luck
