My preferred line up:

1 Ogre
3 Blitzers
2 Throwers
5 Linemen
4 Rerolls
2 FF

The low fan factor doesn't really bother me. I'm not getting much extra cash, but I also only need 1 expensive position player and 4 cheap ones to max out the roster. In addition, this forces me to use Blitzers and Linemen to score my touchdowns. Catchers are easy to score with, and having them on the initial roster makes it easy for them to soak up early SPPs.

This team is also very bashy. The Ogre and Blitzers can beat up any other starting line up with ease and the 4 rerolls make sure that my blocking game will rarely be the cause of a turnover.

The two throwers give me the reliability of picking up the ball when I need to. If one goes down, I still have the back up passer. In addition, I can use them to get the ball downfield in a hurry with the 'Passer 1 pick up, hand off to passer 2 who throws the ball even further downfield' (mouthful!) combination that is so essential to running a good pocket passing game.

And what happens when one of your expensive postional players is killed or you have to retire them? With that low a FF you'll find it hard to replace them with a lineman, let alone the same player type.

In a league, I try not to start with a FF lower than 6 if I can help it

Starting League Humans:

4 Blitzers 360
1 Thrower 70
6 LineMen 250

5 Re-Rolls 250
7 FanFactor 70

OR

4 Re-Rolls 200
7 FanFactor 10
1 Apothecary 50

I like RR's alot :)
I dont trust anyone with BoneHead in a starting Roster.
Either start with the 5th RR and suitable FF.
Or start with the 4RR's and an Apoth if your concerned about getting beat up first game. 4RR's should be enough for most people I guess... then again, I've played some people that make me wonder why they purchase RR's at all :P

They're doing well. I lost a Blitzer, but I took out a Beastman in response. The only expensive player on the roster is the Blitzer. They are the ones least likely to get hurt, so I don't generally worry about their health.

I started a league with this

4 blitzers
1 thrower
2 catchers
3 lineman
1 ogre

1 RR
6 FF
1 Apo

It worked well, but the only one RR is a big risk. But I needed the apo because a high rated chaos and a high rated dwarven team were my first opponenst. You my change the apo for a second RR.

You say the blitzers are east likely to get hurt, yet that's the 1 you've lost :o ? I find blitzers will get hurt as often, if not more, as they will do the majority of blocking.
