1.2m skaven build
Hey guys!
I've never played Skaven and in a week's time I'm due to take a whole team of them to a six game resurrection environment.
I have 1.2m to spend inc purchased skills (1 per player cap, normals only). In addition, one of the players who has received no purchased skills (in this case a Gutter Runner, based on modelling decisions) may take up to 70k in skill and stat ups (as the team hero), taking my total allowance to 1.27m.
So far I have:
- Gutter Runner (hero), 80k
- Thrower (leader), 90k
- Linerat (kick), 90k
Beyond that, please help! I have no idea what I'm doing! :S

Re: 1.2m skaven build
Lots of choices!
First is, have you a preference on whether the Rat Ogre is coming?
Sounds to me like the setup is basically a 1.1m tourney with five singles (hero excluded). If that is the (over-simplified) case, then I'd leave him at home myself.
Cheesey option is a one turning Gutter (+MA, Sprint, Sure Feet) as your hero.
Then five useful singles. Leader is a must. Kick is a luxury you probably don't need. Skilling both Blitzers is my choice, then fill up Gutters. If you insist on Kick give it to a Gutter, more survivability and you'd be setting him up off the line anyway.
I'd end up with something like:
2 Blitzers - Guard and MB
4 Gutters - Hero, Strip Ball, Block
Thrower - Leader
2RR, Apo, fill on Linemen.

Re: 1.2m skaven build
The heros could be a decicated ball carriere hunter: a gutter with wrestle/horns/stripball. it would be more used than a one-turner (if you really want an one-turn, please consider it with the skill side/step +MA/sidestep/surefeet).
or why not a killer: blitzer MB+Claw+PO
Kick is a must have for skaven. but i prefer to put it on an not-skill gutter (because the life of a skaven lineman is short)

Re: 1.2m skaven build
Cheers boys, interesting takes.
Must admit more in favour of the ball hunter than the 1TTD player, particular as the wrestle/dodge combo has more staying power.
As for why a GR, the truth is I've already converted and painted the team. The Hero's on the far right.

So I guess I'm looking at something similar to the following:
1 Apoth - 50k
4 Gutter Runners (Hero, Block, Block, Kick) - Hero is Wrestle, Horns, Strip Ball - 380k
2 Blitzers (Guard, MB) - 220k
1 Thrower (Leader) - 70k
6 Linerat - 300k
3 Reroll - 180k
Alternatively, I could drop a Linerat and a reroll for 5 extra skills (5 wrestle linerats?) Is there value in that tradeoff?

4 reroll inclusive the leader?
it's maybe too much. i would drop one for 3 wrestle on linemen

Re: 1.2m skaven build
Should this not be 90k including Leader1 Thrower (Leader) - 70k
2RR and Leader should be plenty, I think you'd get more use from the extra skills than the 4th RR.

Fully agree with Babass here.babass wrote:4 reroll inclusive the leader?

Wrestle will save your butt and you'll never need that many rerolls surely.

Re: 1.2m skaven build
Okay, sounds good (and yes, slight administrative error in the thrower cost back there, well spotted).
So now I'm looking at:
1 Apoth - 50k
4 Gutter Runners (Hero, Block, Block, Kick) - 380k
1 Thrower (Leader) - 90k
2 Blitzers (MB, Guard) - 220k
2 Linemen (both Wrestle) - 140k
4 Linemen - 200k
2 Reroll - 120k
Which brings me to exactly 1.2m. No tackle, and no Dirty Player... assume that's okay? Still thinking Horns, Wrestle, Strip Ball for the Gutter Runner Hero.
Cheers all

1.2m skaven build
Cheers guys. Turned out to be a very bash environment, but pulled off a decent run.
Orcs (Welshy) win 2-1
C Dwarf (Smeborg) loss 1-2
C Dwarf (Dazedmw) draw 1-1
Undead (A Homes) draw 2-2
C Pact (ciderboy) win 2-1
Nurgle (taketheskull) win 4-0.
Strong finish, lots of fun. The hero was awesome... 8 TDs in 6 games, was able to sack the ball more often than I can remember!

Re: 1.2m skaven build
ShteveO is being bashful. He came 4th in the tourney (in a field of 22), and might well have come 3rd if he hadn't called off his last game early (he lost 3rd place on tie-break, 1 more TD would have clinched it, I think).
Not a bashy environment for me, I faced 2 Skaven, 1 WE, Pact, Chaos, Dwarf.
All the best.
