First skill choice for my Human Blitzer

Post by Corleth »

My first skill roll on a Blitzer and I get a +1mv! I am mainly playing against bashy teams such as Orcs and Lizardmen. There are a couple of fast elven teams though.

Should I take this or do you all think it would be better to take a normal strength/general skill? I do like a fast attack and don't like to get too bashy, especially against orcs.

Being a newbie it's a big decision!

Cheers

well, I normally go for
guard, mighty blow, tackle
on doubles: stand firm or doge (which might be more appropriate for your style)
but I think I'd take the MA +1, especially bcos I don't roll attributes very often.

Give him the move, he becomes a backup slow catcher.

Take the +MA. Give him tackle & shadowing next.

Do it! Another MV 8 player (plus your catchers) will deliver some nasty surprises, concerning 2-turn TDs. Plus, you enable him to do long-distance blitzes, which might come in handy, too. You know, most of the time it is exactlky one square missing to hit that receiver, right?

Woo, thanks for the help guys.

Yeah I was pretty much of the same opinion. It's quite rare you roll up the 10, and on a base movement of 7 and now an 8, he is flying down the field. A catcher with a bit of muscle :)

Thanks for the advice for the further skills. They look great ideas.

The movement is great on a human blitzer. He can turn into your advance cage former on the inside, and he won't have to go for it to help set up a cage 7 squares deep. For a second skill, I'd consider Tackle. That way, he can play a free roving safety on defence.

I always take MA increase on my blitzers. They're just great at MA 8!

I've got a pair of MA 8 blitzers, a MA 10 catcher, a 4 AG Guard lineman and a Block, Dodge Guard, blitzer with 4 AG. Setting up cages is a breeze. Defence is the tough part.

Defense is real fun with them... unless you're facing some psychopathic PO mummies ...

Actually, because of a coach dropout in our league, I coached a 200 rated Dark Elf team last night with a Frenzying 4 strength Block Dodge blitzer. (Who also has a niggle that I gave him when I played against the bastard) It was quite enjoyable to defeat a slowpoke Orc team 2-0. I suppose it helped that one of his goblins failed 3 pickups, 3 catches and 2 pushes - singlehandedly accounting for ending 1/2 of all the team's turns.
