Hi guys!

Something happened yesterday during the handicap roll sequence.

My opponent had 2 against me. First one, Virus :pissed: 4 Nigglings, so I'll be only 11 for the match...

Second one : It wasn't me! (44) But he randomly selected one guy with a Nig.

There was another coach from the league attending the game, and we decided that the guy was being arrested in the infirmary instead of before jumping onto the pitch. But is it the correct ruling?

No, that was an incorrect ruling. All of the handicaps are resolved as they occur, so the virus would have struck, and effectively removed everyone on your roster for consideration for other potential bad things happening to them.

We truly didn't know, and it is actually my opponent who suggested the infirmary scenario. If I would have known that he was unelligible, I would have asked him to roll another guy.

But, the fact is that on the moment, the ruling satisfied everyone.

Now we know!

And we all know that that's half the battle!

The wording for 'It wasn't me' doesn't say it has to be a player who is eligible for the game. I think you could consider all players "on the opposing team" even if it ends up randomly selecting a player missing due to serious injury, normal niggle or other handicap.

I'm not speaking as an authority here, just suggesting that the way the handicap was handled is as valid as any other method.

but when the players with niggles were struck down with the virus it was as if they'd failed there roll and were thus ineligible for the game...

Uhm, virus means you fail your niggling rolls on 1-3, right?

I don't remember the pre-match sequence, but isn't rolling for niggling placed after rolling for handicaps?
That way, the player would be arrested before he had a chance to fail his niggle.

No, Virus means any niggled player automatically misses the match.

63 VIRUS: A mysterious illness breaks out among the opposing team, knocking out the unhealthiest members of the bunch. Any opposing player with a niggling injury is too sick to show up for this match.

With helps explain why a lot of the big teams on FUMBBL have a lot of niggled players, they don't have to worry about the Virus result.
