Does a Hand-Off to a player uses that players turn ?

Checking the LRB I'd think no, as catching the ball is no action IIRC.

The situation was:
Goblin A with the ball moved to Goblin B (who happens to stand next to ogre) handing off the ball to him.
Ogre throws Goblin B accurate.
Goblin B lands safely and runs for the EZ.

We played it this way but later the day i was thinking somehow Goblin B was used twice with the ogre-action in the middle. Now after checking LRB it seems to me he was not used twice as catching the ball is no action.
Clearly illegal i guess it would be if Goblin B moves before and after getting thrown by the ogre, because moving is an action and players can only have their actions one after the other.

Since we are fairly new to the game it would be good if we train standard tactics correctly from the beginning. Are my assumptions correct ?

What you did seems fine. Remember that catching the ball is not an action, so Goblin B had not taken an action until you moved him after having thrown him.

Hi Jethro Dull!

That sounds to me fine as well, since this is exactly, what one of our orc coaches does.... and he did a lot of td with this in his last game, because he surprised his opponent with his luck.... ;-)

Catching the ball is no action, so that is a perfectly legal move.
Only handing it off (what Goblin A did) is an action.

Nope, there were three actions:

Goblin A took a hand-off action.
The ogre took a pass action (he threw the teammate).
Goblin B took a move action.

Ahhh... good, so my head seems inline with the LRB. :)
Thanks gentlemen!

Luck, you name it, Anthracis. Indeed the goblin player was my opponent. With Skaven, i was thinking weak of him. When he lined in that bomb throwing idiot, i did laugh... even when he put up that chainsaw weirdo you saw my eyes just flickering a little... but when he made a touchdown in his second turn with the above technique i had to take him serious at last!

Even though his ogre made a lucky 6 for an accurate pass it seems Goblins can be dangerous as an inaccurate pass/no fumble can get his buggers behind my lines likewise. And if they do their landing well despite the inaccuracy, they are near to a TD if i neglect guarding the EZ. Hmm... i have to go over to the tactics-forum soon. :P

Well, i don't laugh about goblins anymore... :o

Quote from the official Blood Bowl book:
A hand-off may be carried out at any time, even part way through another player's move and does not count as an action for either the player who hands off the ball or the player who reveives it."

That's been revised in the LRB. A handoff is now an action and the player stops moving after it has been carried out. No more handing off then using that player to put a TZ on another player. This was one of the more tactical changes the LRB carried out.
