Declaration of actions

Greetings Members !
On page 8 of the Living Rulebook V 2.0 (sorry, I don't know the page in the regular rulebook because I use the German one) under the headline "player actions" is explained that you MUST declare the action which you want to perform BEFORE you move a player.

Concerning this my tow questions:
1. Why ? The opposing coach has no possibility to stop me so why do I have to declare the actions in advance ?

2. If I want to move a player to the ball, pick it up, move him further and than throw a pass, do I have to delare a pass action although has doesn't have the ball yet ?

Thanls for your answers !

Because of Blitz. If you declare a Blitz then something happens, your Blitz is lost. Like say you want a Bonehead to Blitz, you declare it, then they fail Bonehead...your Blitz is gone.

And trust me this happens a hell of a lot more than 1/6th of the time.

1-agree with Dragoonkin
2-declare your pass action

To Dragnkin:
Do I really have to declare an avtion before rolling on Bonehead ?

The rules say you had to roll on Bonehead before taking an action. That does mean, before declaring, doesn't it ?

So long...

Yes before taking the action but after declaring it:

LRB ver 2 page 26 Bonehead:

"The player is not noted for his intelligence.
Because of this you must roll a D6 after declaring
an action for the player, but before taking the
action."

yes, you must declare before. And if he is bonehead, your blitz is lost.

Thanks for your statements. I'm a little confused with all the rule updates. In the Living Rulebook it's clear, I agree, but I hadn't read it since your suggestions and in BB Anual 2002 it's not clear at all...

The bonehead roll is not a roll "to wake up the Troll" but a roll "to see if the Troll does what you want of him", so you have to declare beforehand.

You also need roll Bonehead if you want to stand up and de-stun, because they are classified as movement actions.

the living rulebook 2 is newer than the bb2002 annual and the 2003 annual is out now anyway

the living rulebook will be the latest set of rules, so as long as you have the latest version of that you don't need to look in the annual

There is another example in addition to the Bonehead/Really Stupid one - if you want to do something (Blitz or Pass) with a guy who needs to dodge and who has the Stand Firm trait, you might attempt the dodge, fail, but use Stand Firm to prevent a turnover. You would have lost your Blitz/Pass move in exactly the same way as with Bonehead.

Another example, if your guy has the ball and starts moving, your opponent has to know beforehand if you're gonna Blitz, pass or hand-off at the end of his movement, in order to decide if he wants use diving tackle, shadowing etc.

And, if you declare a pass, opponent players who have pass block may move towards you before you do anything with your player who has announced a pass.

This is wrong , you move the pass block players after the passing player´s move but before he make the pass roll.
