Block Assisting question

Post by Zergo »

I think I'm unclear on who can assist in a block, and who cannot. Is it that

(a) you must be adjacent to the player being blocked

yY
X
X blocks Y, y gets an assist on defense.

(b) you must be adjacent to the ENEMY player involved in the block?

YX
y

X blocks Y, y gets to assist on defense.

I ask this because I've had two explanations of it. Thanks in advance.

You must meet two requirements:

1: You must be standing adjacent to the opposing player involved in the block
2: You must not be in a tacklezone (disregard this requirement if you have guard.

Just adding:
You may not be in an enemy tacklezone, not including the player being blockeds tacklezone.

A better example

Post by Milo »

Here's a better example:

Code: Select all

f E . . .
. . a b .
. G C . .
. D . . .
In the above example, all uppercase characters are one team, lowercase another. The "." marks an empty space.

Player C blocks player a.

Player b can assist in defense, because he is adjacent to the blocking player but not in any other enemy tackle zones.

Player D cannot assist in offense, because he is not adjacent to the player being blocked, despite being adjacent to the player MAKING the block. In order to assist, you must always be adjacent to the player on the opposite team involved in the block.

Player E cannot assist in offense, despite being adjacent to the player being blocked, because he is in Player f's tacklezone.

Player G can assist in offense, because he is adjacent to the player being blocked and not in any other enemy tackle zones.

Hope that helps.

Good to see you Milo and that's a well displayed good answer.

Now if you could just draw me one of those and use it LRB 1.3 Multiple Block with and without Guard on both teams, you'd make my day. :D

Couldn't agree more Galak, I'd love to see a MultiBlock example, it might make me take the skill :D

yeah, can you give offencive assist standing next to just one of the victims of a multiple block, or do you need to stand next to both?
- or perhaps you must be next to just one of then and thus not in the other's tackel zone?
- or perhaps you can assist both ways?

This is how we play it, otherwise it gets really complicated.
