Tackle Zones

Are Big guy tackle zones more than the eight squares that are normal? And do they occupy 1 or 4 squares? Also, Bull Centaurs, do they occupy 1 or 2 squares? Thanks, Mike.

Big guys and Bully Centaurs take up one sqaure and exert the same amount of tz's as a regular player ( 8 )

Thanks for that wonderfully quick reply, but how do you mane them fit in only one square? Shave the bases?

No just put them in the middle with the rest of the base overlapping the surrounding squares, you can fit normal sized players next to them without too much problem.

If you look at this post you can see Longfangs Super Ogre on a small base
and I believe there is something in the miniatures section on basing big guys, may be worth a look.

Just remember that the interception rules say that "the plastic ruler must pass over at least part of the intercepting player’s base."... so bigger the base....
But... well, it isn't a big deal, really....
by the way, perhaps they can change this to "over at least part of his square"....

We had major agruements about this in our league. However, as commish, I took the common sense view and ruled on squares not bases.

We tried centering the regular base in the square until a hobgoblin entered the square directly behind the BC for a handoff.... Now I realize where baby bc's come from.... 
Ummm, in all serious-ness, if you slide the figure full-forward on the base and then cut the back of the base off even with the rear-most hoof... it fits relatively well into the square....

All rules concerning players' "bases" should (imo) be read as their "squares" instead ! - as Darkson wrote
Otherwise I would surely use some really HUGE bases, and get lots of chances to intercept :-/

[/code]The rulebook is vague on when the passing bands move to the next one higher. Is it: A) If the line between ranges lands on the base or B) if the line between ranges is on or beyond the midpoint or some piece of the target square (either empty or with intended catcher).
Keep in mind two VERY important details before casually clarifing this one:
if you say crossing the base, then what if I use a Big Guy with the new super round base that GW is providing (would big guys have an advantage on ranges ... if they do .. can I put all my normal players on Big Guy rounds)
if I throw to an empty square then where is the measurement to? if you say the middle point of the square then why is this measurement farther than to a based player.
For sake of consistency, clarifying the rule to moving to the next highest range band if the line is on or past the midpoint of the receiving square OR touchs the square at all is recommended.
In the same lines as the passing band clarification. For determining interceptors, it says if the range bands crosses the base of the player. Either a change or clarification is needed for consistency on this one. It should either be the range ruler crossing the square where an opponent is standing or if it would cross over a standard 25mm Blood Bowl base. Otherwise, just using the wording of crosses the player's base means that I'm putting the new Blood Bowl legal Big Guy super round bases on all my players.
OR a 3rd alternative is to keep the base wording and in some part of the rulebook put in a rule that all players except Big Guy players must use 25mm round bases. This would prevent the beardyness that the base wording creates.
Basically the use of the word "base" in Blood Bowl causes clarification issues ... moving to have all measurements be based on only the pitch itself would solve these problems completely.
