Treeman and Pass Block

Post by Vesticle »

If a Treeman has the Pass Block skill, can he still move 3 squares when he pass blocks?

Yes.

Father Tim (who plays in the MBBL and MBBL2) in his league in Canada had a Treeman team where most the Treeman had Frenzy and Pass Block to actually help move around the pitch.

See, a pass blocking treeman, for the most part, is even better than a pass blocking lineman... they both move the same amount of squares, and though the treeman is more likely to fail a needed dodge, he won't fall over because of it. The chance to intercept is the same for AG1 as AG3, it helps move the treeman around the pitch, and if you get his TZ on the receiver or thrower, it's a big hammer coming down on them next turn...

Shadowing... well, that's something else... I'd only need that if Chappy dodges his mummies away from me again...

Now THAT'S just WRONG, and is a real "rules lawyer" way of reading the rules! I can not believe any commissioner would allow that in his league. If a player's movement is less than 3, that is what the player should be allowed to move during a pass block.

Don't forget that you can only use PB against a Pass Action and you must be able to either put an TZ on the thrower or receiver or make an interception. You can't just use PB to move a whole team 3 squares.

I hate rules lawyers Snots and I see nothing wrong with allowing movement of 3 for a Pass Block for a Treeman. He burnt a skill roll for something that most players will avoid. I RARELY get to actually use my Pass Block players in a game.

If a coach wants to give a Treeman Pass Block instead of Block or Pro ... then I say ... let him have the 3 movement. I have zero problem with this.

I have to agree, who cares if an AG1 treeman can move an extra square to passblock an ag4 elf thrower with accurate and pass, it's not a s if he will actually intercept.

it adds a flavour to the game and is fun to see. I am in favour

Yes, I know when you're allowed to use pass block and I don't really care if he wasted a skill roll for it. I still feel it's not in the intention of the rule and was an oversight. Reading the rules that way sounds like pure CHEESE to me.

Galak, you should put this in your list for October.

I've always read the rule that way and never had any problem with it. In fact, you seem to be the only one who's having a problem here. I don't see an incentive to change this rule.
