The Subterraneans - Underworld Team WiP

Hey folks, thanks for taking a look at my team!

After drifting away from bloodbowl and miniature gaming for the past 3 years, my interest was recently rediscovered when I moved to a new town and found out there was a very active league near by. To increase the fun, I'm planning to attend a tournament in November, and refuse to take anything but a newly created team to a tournament (Trying to win best painted with the same team twice feels lazy to me). I have a pretty obsessive desire to never use stock models and always have a team that stands apart from others.

This time, I decided to give underworld a try. I am a *huge* skaven fan, and they look like a really fun team that I can also apply my undying skaven 13-worshiping warpstone everywhere mojo too. I despise modeling biological mutations, though, and decided to go for a robotic clan Skryre inspired team. The overall vibe of the team is meant to be very fun and light hearted, on the cartoonier side of bloodbowl that I've always enjoyed.

So here they are! I'd love as much positive and negative feedback as anyone can give (especially the negative, which I find very helpful)! If you want to see some larger images, you can view the album HERE

I'm a slow painter, but will hopefully be starting the next week or so, and have to have them all done by November's tourny!

Warpstone Troll: Love this guy. The robotic black ork rock driller brought the pitch!
Image

Skirttar Stab Stab: A standard star player model on this team would make me cry, so I had to make a stabbing skaven to fill the slot. Still trying to design a Fezglitch
Image

Storm vermin: What I consider a good mix of still being skaven sized but looking beefier than the other skaven
Image

Throwers: Happy with the extra arms, even though it's pretty over the top.
Image

Linerats: As with my first two goblins, I wish I'd been more ambitious and creative with these guys... Oh well
Image

Goblin 7: My absolute favorite of the bunch, will someday be a sneaky git + dirty player if I have any luck =)
Image

Goblins 4 + 5: Two heads and inspector gadget. Possibly too goofy, but I'm still happy with them
Image

Goblins 3 + 4: A blend of goofy tech and blending in that I'm very happy with.
Image

Goblins 1 + 2: My first two goblins that I'm not a big fan of. Was too cautious with the conversions, as they were my first.

Thanks for taking a look! I'd love to hear what you think (especially the negatives!)

very creative though some of them are hard to make out what the hell is going on

I don't really like the skirts on the skaven minis that you have used, not sure the best way to remedy that though

Some outstanding conversions you have there. An interesting high-tech theme. Can't wait to see them painted.

Oooh, those gadget legs would be perfect arms for my Doc Ock Gobbo conversion!

Oooh frankenstines models. Very nice and I agree the inspector gadget legs are awsome.

Some of them are a little OTT but that adds character. You may need prone/stunned counters to stop them getting damaged though.

Really, really nice!

With conversions like these you can't hold back. All the way is the way to go.

That said you need some more regular guys to make it look like a team and not to ramshackle. Keep all the players as they are and start painting them up! I for one can't wait to see them!

Wow this is possibly the best looking unpainted blood bowl team I have ever seen! It really appeals to my taste. I would love to know how you went about doing some of those conversions with some of the componenets listed.

The Warpstone troll reminds me of a Bioshock big daddy and its great!

Thanks so much for the replies everyone!

As for components the goblins were the most abnormal, all of which use Vampire Counts Crypt Ghoul torsos Night Goblin Fanatic heads and Necron gauss flayer rifles for the power supply on their backs (kind of hard to see in the photos). Arms and legs are a helter skelter mix of Necrons, Goblin Wolf Riders, and Crypt Ghouls. I have to say I am completely blown away by the Crypt Ghoul arms, and used them on almost every model on the team (I very quickly get bored of standard closed fisted hands, and good open hand outstretched arm plastics have been *very* hard to come by until now). The skaven I wasn't able to be quite so creative since no good two part body plastics exist. The quality of the new clanrats are excellent, but they're all 1part bodies (and even have the left arm stuck on there, which I had to dremel off). The storm vermin used the Storm Vermin torsos, (which were a lot better than 1piece clanrats, but I only had the premeditation to order two when I ordered bitz) and heads from the Doomwheel engineers. The troll and the sneaky git foot are from a plastic Black Orc, and the extra arms and inspector gadget legs are from a 40k Chaos Defiler arm, heated with a lighter to be repositioned. All the other random bits are all from my bitz box... I could name them all but I doubt anyone wants to go through all that. Lots of things from Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard vehicle sprus, 40k Ork stuff, and Skaven bits. I Hope that was marginally useful and not too boring!
