Hello! This will be the 'Blog' for my new dark elves, The Reticulated Evil Pythons, the first player up to bat on the sculpting block is my blitzer.
She's a gaunty leggy...um thinny? (word?) nutcase, much like any other dark elf. She's self appointed team captain (much like everyone else on the team) and she's still in progress. names: Melfiria Heartstrike

That's it for her body, she's armor 8 so she's going to have traditionally sinister looking dark elf armor, the back is a bit underdeveloped, but the whole model still needs some work, even edges ect. Her legs are going to have have grieves starting at the knee, but because of how much glue I used keeping the metal wire in place on the cork I will have to wait till she is done before I can start her feet. Um, she's got a thigh-hi boot on her right leg (From the knee up) and a stocking with (soon to be) spiked band around her thigh. I drew inspiration from the actual witch elf models from fantasy (at least for her legs) but the rest is just whatever I thought would make her work ( I don't know, witch elves have half and half pants look at them : ) ). Her shoulder pad and chest are skulls, the shoulder pad is still being developed. Her other arm and hands are just else where.

This is her head, which without a sketch or visual designs that I have made pretty confusing? I don't know.
She's wearing just a mask, shaped like many other dark elf helmets that I have seen, with pronounced cheeks and curved sinister eyes. Still alot of work to be done on this.

I started this whole model from scratch and it's turned out pretty well. I just hope my next players turn out as good.
I would really love any kind of comments you could give, i know some of the pictures are hard to work with because there are differing tones of green-stuff. But thanks for any input or suggestions.
I will try to get some sort of character design sketches up, as they may help to solve where the whole thing is going.

:D :D :-? :P

nice start, careful she doesn't end up looking like she is falling over forwards though

oh and svelte, not thinny is the word you were looking for ;]

think her tits might be too high as well

download the figure drawing for all it's worth book from http://fineart.sk/index.php?cat=1 and use it for some anatomy reference

Looks awesome!

I somewhat agree with Grumbledook but instead of her breasts being too high, I think her torso is just a tad long/tall. But other than that, looks good. Can't wait to see the rest.

yeah, her breasts look high, she's supposed to tall and slender so I did make her torso a bit long, with one of her shoulders missing, its hard to tell where the top of her shoulders are in comparison. I guess I could move them down...somehow? I think It will work out with the other arm there.

Yup, tits look like they're going to jump ship the first nudge they get!..All the rest is excellent stuff....you've got a good eye for it...keep going over the weeks/months as you build this team up.

I had a similar experience problem from mounting wire armatures into cork/balsa.

I finall opted to go for a flat sturdy but smooth finished mounting block mage from left over resin from casting. A quick pin hole for the tail end of the wire to go in and a dab of super glue and job done. When it came to removing the sculpted miniature a sharpe blade to the block and sculpt join was al that was really needed to seperate.

UPVC plastic as used on double-glasing window sills etc, cut into usable blocks is also just as good a material to use.

Looks good, though I agree with the others on her tits - either they're to high or her chestplate is much to tight. ;)

Only other thing is the lips - she's had some serious collagen work done on those!

Sketeches? Well I have a few pages worth of sketches in my book, but sadly am scannerless. But, I did do a few lil' things here or there for color ideas ect. on my computer that I can show you.

head design, maskless.

Head designs, with masks. (note how silly the sauron looking one is : D )

Pose guide from front.

color guide, and different pose.

There's all that I have on my computer, if I can get a scanner I will put more up, but roughly that's how I start.
1-Get an idea.
2- Think about it a lot.
3- Draw whatever it is out.
4- Repeat step 3 for awhile
5- Start making an armature
6- Revise drawings as model progresses
7- Finish!

I'm not sure, what you are trying to get at, but I did laugh pretty hard.

"...oh I see what you did there."
hi-larious

Yeah, I plan to do most of my positional players, if not my whole team...I guess just play, I mean if someone wanted a commission or something I would make them something, or whatever, why?
