Positional Colours

I want to start up a human marvel caracture team, and I've been told that as they will be non-standard figures the bases have to be marked in different colours depending on their position, Thrower, Blitzer etc. Can some tell me what colours they need to be for each position.
Many Thanks

Some teams need additional colours:
orange = runner
blue/violet = special player

Yep they do, but I didn't know if there were accept standards for them.

Hey Mike, what they said
See you Saturday? I think my next league match is against Stu... I'll be there Sat in the PM, but if Stu's not there I'll be there for Vets on the Sunday anyway.
Cheers, Bert

Bear in mind that grey for linemen is the same as no color. In 2nd edition BB the figures played on a grey surface called astrogranite instead of grass. That's why linemen were grey back then. They could just as well be brown or black or whatever color you usually paint your baserings. The most important thing is that the figures can be told apart. For the same reason I have never really found the need for more than the 5 original colors. Gutter runners are a kind of catchers so they get a yellow basering. The same goes for goblins in an orc team. Dwarf runners can take throwing skills so they get a white basering and so on.

Glad I found this thread.
But has anyone seen GOLD being the base colour for Star Players? I'm not too keen on Blue/Violet for Star Players.
What do you think?

The only official colours were white for throwers, yellow for catchers, green for blockers and red for blitzers. Grey was the colour for linemen, though as was stated this was probably only due to the astrogranite.
These are the ONLY colours ever officially named, though blue was widely accepted for kickers, so runners never had a colour and anything you hear or read otherwise is misinformed. If I saw Orange base rings that would mean nothing to me. Personally I painted my Dwarf Runners bases white to match their passing skills access, and my Skaven Runners yellow, as they were once uopn a time catchers.
All of this said, 2nd ed was near enough an entirely different game. Use these colours as guidelines, but it really doesn't matter how you do things as long as there is a way to differentiate the positions from each other. Base rings are no longer part of the rules and you do not HAVE to use them. There are plenty of alternatives.

I never said that orange was the official colour, but as you said yourself, those base rings are totally unofficial by now. Blue has been widely accepted as kickers, and orange seems to be what most people use for their runners (if they want an extra colour for this position). And I'm entirely sure that orange base rings would mean something to you, if you were facing a Skaven team with 4 miniatures having it. You can't be that uncreative.

Please name some. When playing with 2ed edition minis, or third party minis, base rings are still the best way to go for me. I'm even using them for my new dark elf team, although they're plain boring 3rd edition minis.

Base rings are helpful on an Amazon team, too! Not a lot of difference between some of the linemen and blitzers.

I've seen parts of armour colour coded. I've seen the feathers on Amazon players colour coded. My Orc team has 4 Orcs with double shoulder pads and helmets - my blitzers - and several players with no helmet and only one shoulder pad each - Lineorcs.
In many cases the figures should pretty much explain themselves (Shadowforge Nuns, 2nd edition Skaven, Norse - no matter what you use as Ulwerener, most elves). The sculpts are sufficient by pose and equipment. 2nd Ed Dark Elves are definitely problematic, as are the "new" Humans. In those cases I'd recommend the standard base ring colours and ignore anything else - no matter what you've read online. Give any cases not covered the nearest colour based on skill access.
When it gets down to it as long as each position can be quickly differentiated from the others there's no problem. Find a solution that suits you.

In all honesty I've never played a 2nd edition game where a blue base ring was used. Kickers had linemen stats so we just kept them as grey and used kicker miniatures (the horror!), was pretty distinctive.
As for orange on a skaven team.. I'd sit and wonder why they weren't yellow. Afterall they're the nearest equivalent of a catcher and thus should be using the yellow baserings irather than a random colour.
