What to use for nurgle warriors?

Folks,

Apologies if this has already been covered, but I'm struggling to find models I am happy with as nurgle warriors.

I know some players use plaguebearers, with a bit of clipping etc but I'm not so sure about them. I'm also a little unsure on whether I like the standard GW pestigor models.

What do other players use? Any suggestions/pics of your teams greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Variant A: Use normal Blood Bowl Chaos Warriors, and paint them Nurgle style, using lots of brown, grey and green colours.

Variant B: Use those 3 Nurgle Rotter minis and the old Starplayer Bilerot Vomitflesh: Image. If you've going this way, you'll need new Rotter minis. I recommend some Warhammer Zombies from the Vampire Army, they'll make quite decent Rotters.

As for the Blood Bowl Pestigors, they are ok if you paintjop is well done. Don't know about the size of those Warhammer Pestigors, but you could use those after clipping their weapons.

I've got a box of WHFB Chaos Warriors from one generation back , when the looked like like these guys (note: these are NOT my miniatures; these are just example pics I quickly grabbed off of CMoN):

Image Image Image

They're a bit more hunched over than current Chaos Warrior figures but lend themselves to much more dynamic poses (as compared to BB or current WHFB CWs), thus making them much better in my eyes. The regiment box came with a few Nurglish parts I plan on using, plus I'll add in a few conversions of my own.

These are getting harder to find as we move farther from the days when they were in current production. They still crop up on eBay occasionally, albeit rarely now, and I'd recommend trying to snag some if they do show up; it's a great box with lots of cool parts.

The double head is one of the regular bits in the box, a bit of which I shall take full advantage. :)

what's the box look like for that chaos warrior set? I need some warriors for my chaos team and they look like they'd be a fantastic fit (rather than the big fur cloak wearing current ones). If I knew what the box cover looked like I'd have more confidence in trying to snag some online somewhere.

The box I have is rather beaten up, but I believe it should still show clearly enough for you to tell it from the new ones. I'm at work right now but I'll try to get a picture up later today, either when I get home from this shift or before I start my next shift.

What ever you do, don't use the newer chaos warriors... I used them for a recent 3rd edition chaos marauder blood bowl time and well they looked to static posed for blood bowl.

If you can find them... use the older hunchback warriors... they are better suited for BB. That's why I got some coming to me... for a new team. :D

Something I had thought about using for a Nurgle team is a Myconid (Mushroom Man) figure.
One example here:

Not sure how to make him look a Bloodbowl player, but did strike me as something suitably unusual for a chaos team. 8)

I wouldn't buy those D&D minis.

First of all, they are prepainted. Worse, the material is some sort of soft plastic. And you wouldn't want a "soft" Nurgle Warrior, eh ? :P

I have used the old champions of Nurgle. Weapon snips, adding new arms and legs (heads, even). Great fun.
Still no pics of the finished minis, but the "originals" are these:

Good point Meradanis, those plastic D&D minature would be a bit hard to convert.

Could try a metal figure like the ones here

Sorry, btw, the last couple days got really busy and I didn't have time to dig out my camera. I tried a couple shots on my phone's camera, but they were so bad they wouldn't have helped you identify anything. I should be able to get some real pics up later today, though.

are these the sprues from that box?

if they are it looks like they're still available to buy...if so I'm all over it.

Wow, nice find! :o Yeah, that's them; I had no idea they were still available. Too bad the sprue with Nurgley heads and arm mutations isn't there, but for basic CWs, those are the ones you want.

This is actually nice for me, too, as I just sold Dark Maladon my extra parts from these sprues. It looks like you'd pay USD $20 to make 8 warriors (2 of each sprue, at $5 each); that's about how many parts he's buying and about what he's paying, so at least we know now that we did both get good deals out of it. :)

If you don't mind, I'll skip making the effort to photograph the box, now. ;)
