so for my next project i think i'm going to try and make up a necromantic team using a mixture of westwind stuff

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/sh ... hic+Horror

and zombiesmith stuff

http://www.zombiesmith.com/?sub=1&genreid=3

has anyone used either of these sources. what size are the mini's and all that sort of jazz?

are they any good at delivering? what sort of times should i be expecting things to arrive in?

I have never even heard of them... but the Werewolves look great!!!

and teh zombiesmith stuff looks cool too. A little more COMIC than the regular BB fare, but it's different and I like it! :)

I'm interested in the sizing and what not too now.... you're just a bad influence Git. 8)

Never heard of those companies before.

I like the Asylum Innmates, they could be used as realy creepy cheerleaders :)

I've ordered quite a few things from Westwind's US retailer, OldGlory I think anyway the models are a nice scale fit in perfect just have to deal with the metal bases. I painted up a couple for the NBA legacy team if you want to see a werewolf and a zombie.

I have had the same idea using West wind for years. Ther figs are nice but have A LOT of bad flash more than occasionally. Even so, I LOVE their Monster By Blows pack for Flesh Golems. The pack has 4 Golems for like $10-$15! Three of the four are PERFECT (fit right on a 25 MM round base) and the Fourth will make a FANTASTIC Frank n Stein (needs a larger base). I,ve been trying to trade/sell the extra golem and a 2nd ed. Frank n Stein with no luck but that pack is still a HuGE value. That pack is a MUST so steer away from the "single" Frankenstein fig. (like $8 for 1 fig!). The sculpts are VERY classic-GW style and kind of look like black orcs/small ogres (definitely STR 4) with stitches, iron jaws, and exposed brains!!
Their Werewolves are OK but "may" not fit on a 25 MM base. I have 2 Wilhelm Chaney's but I'm hoping Phil eventually gets around to casting that Werewolf green he made a couple years ago!!!

LOL! That's great! Which co. offers that mini?

The West Wind Wolfs looks WAY better than GW's one. I think I'll get the first one and the fourh one...

Those Zombies are cool too!

I've gotten a lot of the West Wind gothic horror stuff for my VSF gaming, and I love them. They're right in scale with GW stuff, although not necessarily as chunky. Their pricing is strange, but some of the sets are great values, as others have pointed out. In the U.S., you can get them from WarWeb, http://www.warweb.com, which also carries Osprey books and Vallejo paints, among others.

EG, apart from the fact you can't order individual figures from the packs, I've not had any problems with Westwind.

And those Zombiesmith figs look good.

I am using the westwind Monster by Blows pack as my 2 flesh golems and actually one each of hte sack headed scarecrows and pumpkin headed scarecrows in place of the GW ghoul figures. (for some reason I hate the ghouls...)

The westwind figures are excellent and fit perfectly with your BB team. Now for my zombies I modded a bunch of different figures to represent a Zombie from nearly each race. Good Stuff, if I do say so myself (wish I had a digital camera to post them).

Check out the NBA legacy team. Quite a few are Westwind Vampire Wars figures. I painted the pumpkin headed zombie, and it was actually a left over figure from a pumpkin headed themed Necro team that I did. I used 90% westwind figs and they look great! For Werewolves I used Cat byblows with the heads cut off and replaced with GW Direwolf heads. I heartily recommend Vampire Wars products.

cheers for that chairface. now i see that they're the right sort of height that i was going for. excellent.

just waiting for confirmation from zombiesmith and then i'll be making up yet another team. don't want to know when they're likely to get painted though...

Very nice chairface, I hadn't considered putting shoulder pads and kneepads on my scarecrows, but I think I am about to :)
