Norse for Spiky Tournament

Hi, I just moved to Reading from York and I was thinkin about entering the Spiky tournament (if there's any places left, not sure about that). Now, I've not played tabletop in a while, and it's been a couple of years since I painted anything (I'm primarily a FUMBBL player these days) but I've decided to start a norse team.

I don't want to have to do much converting so I'm gonna use the basic GW models, maybe convert a mino, so I want to choose a different paint scheme for them.

I was thinking about painting their skin a grey colour like they've been ravaged by chaos. So I was wondering if people could suggest what colours to use, I've seen grey skinned elves before. Also, what other colours to use for the clothes. I was thinking black fur may complement the skin.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Its hard to say what colour you should use. Do you have an interest in a particular chaos god?

Well, if I was going to do grey skin i would prime in black and work my way up in the greys, dark to light.

?

I'm no pro-painter though...

Grey Skin would be cool. Here are my suggestions using GW colors. 1. Black undercoat
2. Shadow Grey basecoat
3. Highlight 1/2 shadow grey 1/2 Space wolf grey to pure space wolf grey.
Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm not planning on making them chaos worshippers, just having them come for an area thats been poisoned by chaos so, no god-specific colour scheme needed, just what looks cool :D

still, I'm leaning towards going for a deep red, bloodslicked colour for the armour, with black fur, maybe burnished gold metal and painting their hair white

If i ever buy them, and paint them in time for the tourney, I'll post pics

another question, I want a minotaur on my team, but as im steering away from them being chaos marauders, I'm gonna have manacles and broken off chains round the ankles and wrists

however, the new bloodbowl mino looks a bit static for me and im not sure about gnashrak, is there any other mino model that might be good to use (with minimal conversion needed)?

also, how about the horns? I'm gonna give the mino grey skin with black fur too, but what colour should I paint the horns? I'm not sure if the standard bone colour would go with it

The Warhammer Doombull is a good one, just cut off the weapons!

Not Sure about an alternative GW Minotaur... I LIKE Gnashrak but otherwise you may like to look outside of GW if possible.
As for the horns.. if you stick with the Grey skin and white fur on the mino, deep-red horns would contrast well. I would blend it with the base of the horns almost being black with the just the very tips being blood red.

May I humbly suggest the Heresy Minotaur Manbane?

http://www.heresyminiatures.com/images/pages/hm001.htm

Here he is in all of his glory. He already has chains around his wrists, and you can replace the victims head with something more bloodbowlish. A perfect addition for any team!

hmm, i really like that mino, il probably go with him (and either a griff or a prince moron head) though I heard that you cant use non-GW minis at GW events, is that right?

if so, I'll probably get gnashrak as well in case I ever go to the BB

PS. is there anything I should know about heresy miniatures? like the way rackham minis are made from a different metal and are a bit brittle
