Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
A forum for football mini's talk.......painting, converting etc. etc. or showing off great accessories that make playing the game easier, cooler or more fun.
orkydave wrote:And to say that re-introducing minis as randoms is as bad as not selling them at all is just silly.
I said ALMOST, which imo it is. If I want a certain CW, why should I have to go to external retailer (though I'd go to BBFigs regardless). Being able to buy a specific piece is what the manufactuer should be providing, not a third-party.
And it's not just BB - for example, it's also the same deal on metal Space Marines.
Extremely poor.
orkydave wrote:Can GW win? really???
Of course they can - drop the stupid "random" deal, and let people order specific models. I'd much rather have to wait a day or two more to get the model I want, than risk ordering x number of models until I get the figure I want.

Okay trying to develop my new strategy for BBFigs.com (not easy by a long shot and I do financial modeling and programming for a living).
Was going through the SG Catalogue on the website and comparing it the the US site ... some interesting notes in 3 categories:
Missing from from the webstore but shown in the catalogue:
Borak the Despoiler
The Mighty Zug
Zara the Slayer
Ramtut III
Necromantic Cheerleader
What up with the price? (almost all single figures are $8 USD each)
random Human Blitzer $6
random Nurgle Rotter $6
random Orc Blitzer $6
random Orc Lineman $6
Orc Cheerleader $6
Halfling set of 3 #2 is $10 vs Halfling set of 3 #1 for $8
3 random Goblins for $10 vs 3 random Skinks for $8
Errors (and kudos) between catalogue and website
1) Amazon team in catalogue says it comes with 4 Blitzers and 5 Linewomen but the website says 2 Blitzers and 7 Linewomen. The picture on both matches what the website says (Galak believes the website)
2) Elf team in catalague says 2 Throwers and 6 Linemen and the Booster has 2 Catchers and 2 Lineman. The website says the team has 1 Thrower and 7 Linemen and Booster has 1 Blitzer, 1 Lineman, and 2 Catchers. The pictures on both catalogue and website match the catalogue description. (Galak believes .... ??? ... not sure. The old booster before the change was 1 Thrower, 2 Catchers, 1 Lineman but the picture of the 12 man team matches the 2 Throwers and 6 Lineman on both sources. The booster contents being changed for both new sources from the old booster makes me completely uncertain what is in here. Especially since I know Lycos (NAF Prez) was pushing to bring back the out of print Elf Thrower #2 as it was no longer available as the old team deal only had one Thrower #1 in it. So too many variable to call what is actually going to be sold here.)
3) Halfling team in catalogue says it has 10 Halflings and on the website it says it has 11. (Galak believes ... well it has 11 Halflings before the change but the Troll and Treeman are the same price and the Goblin team is $50 with 11 Goblins. Halfling team is still at $45 so they might be trimming a Halfling from the previous team mix to keep it priced right at $45. So unsure which is right)
4) The High Elf team is composed of 2 Dragon Warriors and 2 Lion Warriors (same for individual figures) instead of their LRB 5.0 names of Blitzers and Catchers in both the catalogue and website. (what no love for the Phoenix Warrior???? ... if you are going to do something wrong at least be consistently wrong ... geesch)
5) Khemri team. Per the website ... 2 Mummies and 10 Skeletons. Per the catalogue: 2 Mummies and 10 models comprising of Thro-Ros, Blitz-Ras, and Skeletons. Points to the catalogue for almost having it right. And major points to GW for stopping calling this the Tomb Kings team which has never been the name of the team even since it was experimental.
6) random Norse Lineman on the US site has no price ... so you cannot buy it.
7) Okay this one is not an error ... but instead a major kudos to GW. Hats off to them for FINALLY fixing the Nurgle boxed set to match the team.
8 ) Undead team booster. Catalogue says 1 Mummy, 1 Zombie, 2 Ghouls and pic shows this mix as well. Website says 2 Ghouls and 2 Skeletons but shows 2 Ghouls, 1 Skeleton, and 1 Zombie. (Galak believes ... go with the website picture ... that's what the old booster had in it).
9) Vampire team booster. Catalogue says 1 Vampire and 2 Thralls which matches the picture they show. Website says 2 Vampires and 2 Thralls which matches the picture they show. (Galak believes ... website is correct)

That's all to just give you the complete picture of what happened so far this week.

Friend got one of these last month and it was 2xGhouls, 1 Skeleton & 1 Zombie. Doubt they have changed it.

Just off the phone with GW. Amongst the other models I wanted to get, I tried to slip in a Zara the Slayer. She is featured on pg56 of the current (2009) Specialist catalog. I have a part number for her: 99060999085. But alas, she is not available.
The pic in the catalog shows the old model, so I presume she is just being repacked and will be out later this year. Too bad for me.
