Re: Willy-miniatures Zug "link" (page 22)

Post by spubbbba »

Right lets get back to the important stuff about miniatures.

I love that Zug, so dynamic and he has a lot of conversion potential too, he could easily become a Black Orc, Flesh Golem, a small Ogre or even a Thrud!

As to what stars to do next there are a number of considerations as there are a lot of factors that determine why people buy models.

The most important factor is if you can do a good job on the sculpt, plenty of us will buy a model just because it looks cool. There are loads of people who just collect models or only get them to paint and never play. Quite a few of the stars don’t have models or much of a description so you can have a largely free reign on what they look like. Others have several versions such as Zug so they will be competition.

Other considerations are the usefulness of the star, how often they will be used and how many teams they can play for, also if the model could be used as a normal player. Morg would be a good example as he can play for almost any living team, can be used as a normal Ogre on a Human, Pact or Ogre team and I can only think of the GW version which is looking pretty old now, he is expensive but still popular.

The goblin stars could be fun and they would work as normal secret weapons, I’d avoid Zara and Ramtut unless you can do an amazing job since the GW versions are 2 of the few existing GW BB models that are really nice.

agreed, Zara is used ALOT. As is the Dwwarf Bombadier and the goblin secret weapon guys. I would really like to see a new dribblesnot. I was never a fan of the original model, there wasnt anywhere to paint your team colours on him.

Also when can I buy Zug?

Yes , comparison soon .
garion wrote: You might want to call him something different though to avoid the wrath of GW and their IP police. Just call him Xug that should do ;)
No problem , Zug is a Swiss city ;) , thanks for warning .

I like the star players but I must admit that I have little opportunity to play in league or tournament. And when I have the opportunity to play, it's often cheaper. But in the lot, there are some who don't have figures (Ithaca, Dolfar, humerus, J Earlice example for teams that I own) and yet I would like to have. So I will continue to look forward to your ads.

For stars goblins, I rather like those of Neomics.

Hi next star players , Griff , Puggy , Willow (dryad) , Max Spleenriper (chaos chainsaw) ... maybe later Ithaca (dark ekf -skeleton) , Hack (skeleton chainsaw) , Sinnedbad etc .
star player who you think would be a good idea ?
thanks
Your sculptors do a great job and I have no doubt they will do a great job on these

The star player issue isnt an easy one - some of the stars definitely need new miniatures to represent them

Ithaca, Hack & Sinnedbad would be interesting to see

Other stars such as Griff, Puggy and Max Spleenripper will depend for me how they look. Particularly Max Spleenripper if hes wearing the hangmans hood like the GW/HDE miniatures then that is less interesting. If your Max is looking like Lord Borak with a chainsaw then thats more interesting to me because it is different to what has gone before

Similarly Ramtut III, Zara, Dwarf Chainsaw & Dwarf Bomber whilst difficult to better GW's efforts it depends what your vision of them is. If they are re-imagined lets say instead of a regular dwarf chainsaw you sculpt a dwarf trollslayer with a chainsaw then that puts a different angle an idea that has already been done well

I'd also like to see somebody do some of the "old star players" such as the Mad Bomber (Skeleton bomber) and Sharr Peltzer (skaven bomber)

Very nice figure, but a bit to similar to Heresy's various running Boris' for my liking:

I like the zombies, wouldn't mind a living version with them as human linemen.

Would go nicely with Zug.
