Nah, no ball... maybe a head from a player, or just reposition the arm.

A ball on a Ratogre, ok, but on a snowtroll... nah.

Unless you can make it look like a snow-ball, of course. ready to throw it in someone's face. :)

Interesting, perhaps, but also way too big: viewtopic.php?t=24208&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=19

Actually, I've always been under the impression that the Privateer air guitarist (personally, I think of him more as an opera singer ;)) was too large, also.

Here's an example of how much space the Heresy Snow Troll would take up:

(Couldn't inline the image as it's 810 pixels wide, and the forum only allows up to 800.)

The Air Guitarist is just a pose I cannot mentally get out of my mind to try to use that figure.

From my own company if you were looking for Elfball figures that might work for you (and would be the right sizes) ... I would aim for:

Ulfs:
Viking Shapeshifter
Spike Werewolf
Spike Werebear

Snow Troll/Yhetee:
Ulfhedner (I love this figure)
Ice Troll

You can let a foot of the monster on the pitch, and the other foot on the base.
I see this model on tournament. People use coin when the monster is down.

I like the impact ulf too, but the ice troll seems to be a teddybear for me. Not a yeti.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of using cool-looking big guy figures and using tokens to mark when the go down, but I still prefer them to take one space on the board while they're standing. A 40mm is already creeping into surrounding squares as it is but the Heresy Snow Troll doesn't even fit on a 50mm. In a top-down view on a regular board, it would look like this on the pitch:

Code: Select all

. . . . . .
. .H. .H. .
. .E.B.E. .
. . .F. . .
. . . . . .
H - hands
E - elbows
B - body (with one foot underneath)
F - back foot sticking out

Prone/stunned tokens are great and all, but where do I put my figures in those extra five squares when the thing is standing normally? Maybe it's OK on a 40mm board but at some point with a normal board, you simply reach the point of "too much" and while the model itself looks great, I just think it's "too much" for a regular board.

We try to keep all the Impact! figures to fit on 30mm if we can (that's why we paid to have 30mm bases created). 40mm at max. If it doesn't fit on 40mm we really are not interested. The Giant Wrat is as close as we pushed that limit and we almost didn't make that figure because of the 40mm limit that we have.

Which is my way of saying ... I agree ... if it doesn't fit on a 40mm base ... its too big to be used for the game.

I saw the Heresy snow troll in person.

It is a big fig but fits relatively correctly on the field. Maybe it was modified but the one I saw did not cause any problem.

That pose looks very close to the Heresy werewolf.

The only WW fig I've ever seen with no muscle definition. A unique approach and I strongly dislike it.S
