nothing that can't be sorted if you glue a heavy coin under the base!!hef wrote:

I like it, but i think it would be 1000 better if his hair was bigger as the concept drawing and if he diddnt look like he was falling down, he is unplayable in that pose, cant use him on a pitch
and then whats the point?
Wont be getting one with this look im afraid
Cheers

And a field using 40mm squares.txapo wrote:nothing that can't be sorted if you glue a heavy coin under the base!!hef wrote:

The position is too low, near failing as some said; some will just bend the tab or cut it so it can be placed a bit higher. A photo over a 29mm square would give a hint of how this thin guy compares to big fat guys, in terms of "vital space". Longer hair is where it should match the drawing.

Good sculpt but that pose looks like it would hang over into another model's square. Too much bumping around when that happens, more paint chips, etc.

Oooo Nice suggestion! that would be awesome.
Like the mini so far it looks cool.

Re: Willy-miniatures new Troll available (page 7)
Hmmm.... not entirely sure now. He seems to be stuck in between 2 poses, 1 pose being like the drawing, dodging players, but a 2nd pose like he's about to do a diving tackle. But neither of them come off. His left foot doesn't look right, like others said, it looks like he's slipping. If you turned his foot down a bit, like it's planted, it might work.
My $0.02

I think he'll look better a bit more vertical.

Its not a model I would buy as I dont like models that (i think) could easily break an ankle but I think it looks pretty good, one thing I would think that would improve it is having the left hand open.
Having the left hand open gives it a bit of a speed skating pose, one where the hand is open to assist and help in agile moves, having a clentched fist changes the agile pose to a more aggressive pose so to me it confuses the intent of the pose.

not one of ponchos better sculpts IMHO - I didn't think I would like it when I saw the sketch and I was right - minis posed so dramatically rarely work for me, even as display pieces let alone trying to use them on the pitch
for some reason the more dynamic you try to make a mini, the more they look like they are just falling over. I could see this mini being a decent representation of the Diving Tackle skill or similar, but it's not a patch on some of ponchos other stuff..

If it was a human, then yes he's about to fall down. However, its an elf, and to me he just looks like he's avoiding a few obstacles from above and below while still focused on something in front.
You know that insane elf ability to use a toe to propel itself up and over something in a flying leap. Can't do that, but somehow elves can.
I like it, and if I had some cash, I'd defintely add it.
As far as leaning over into other squares, yet another reason to join the 40mm movement. You just get better (and bigger) mini's on the pitch when you have all that room.

If you were careful you could probably bend the tab so that he stands more upright anyway...and if you break the tab off just pin it to the base

I'm sure there are lots of Elf fans that'll snap this up

Willy has asked me to translate for you the following as I do a free and not literal traslation I put first his spanish text:
I'm glad you like the scuplt, I think there will be no probs with stability, and neither I do think that is gonna have a break point at the feet, once it is glued and properly based it will be harder.
Willy miniatures models ard hard, tought and with a lot of metal. I don't save in that, for me is important that they are good size miniatures and that customers are happy once they have them in their hands.
I Like Greyhound idea a lot, it is a nice solution for those that don't want the miniature to be in the original leaning position, but the original one is the one I prefer. Dihenydd has explained it as I see it, he's an elf player, capable of positions and plays not humans, as a mater of fact he is a an ELF STAR PLAYER, more agile than normal even for elfic standards, as well he has understood the esence of the miniature, sprinting and dodging 3 or 4 foes while hypnotaizing the one in front of him!!!
It is a daring and risky position, perfectly valid for playing and using it for amazing dioramas as well. I don't understand why in a game where players are suposed to be runing, jumping, dodging and takling 99% of miniatures are well rooted to the floor in a static pose.
The oficial 2nd edition miniature is out of catalog and very expensive in ebay. I think Poncho has improveed it. It's prize will be 8 € as usual.
I'm sure as well that those who will grasp it will enjoy it a lot and it will have no problems of stabiliy or breaking points!!
