I was rather pleased with a TD I scored the other day; I picked the ball off the ground in my own endzone and scored in the same turn. It went as follws: (team undead, turn 8 first half NO RR's left, no additional skills)
Wight picked up ball and short passed to ghoul.......
Who caught it despite being in a TZ, dodged away and handed off to.....
Another ghoul (also in TZ (!)) dodged away, went for it twice and scored!

Don't worry though, they went back to gross incompetance 2nd half!

Have many of you had the pleasure of a similar experience? Then bask in the memory of it here! The more unexpected the better (ie super elf teams = ).

Diving catch on t'other end? Even so very infuriating for your opponent!

Naw, no diving catch, just a lucky bounce off of the ground to drop into a Blitzers arms. Had to reroll the Catch though :P

In the last turn of the last game of the BB tourny, at 1-1 against an Undead team (i was Human), and in the pouring rain...

My thrower ran 6, went for it 2 and handed off the ball to the catcher who was in two tackle zones (caught using Catch). The catcher then dodged away (using Dodge), ran up the pitch 8 squares, went for it twice and threw a quick pass to blitzer. The blitzer, in a ghoul's TZ caught it using my last re-roll then attempted the dodge into the end zone...

Last roll of the tournament.... only needed a 3....

Big Fat 1
Still, it was a laugh :-)

I had a game with my chaos dwarfs who were up against a lizard team. I was recieving on the 1st kick, but he got a blitz. He got 2 skinks on my only hogobbo in the back and then the ball bounced directly to that hobbo. Needing a 6 he actually caught the ball in 2 tackle zones. Half my team being out of the play, I used another hobbo and blitzed his krogigor off the line leaving my bull centaur open. The hobbo with the ball dodge back, ran up, made 2 push its and threw an accurate short pass. The cetaur caught it and got 9 squares into his side of the pitch (with 3 successful push its) He got his kroxigor next to my bull centaur but had to use his blitz to do it. On my next turn the centaur (with AG 2 mind you) dodged away from his kroxigor (5+ roll) and scored. Stuff of lengends

(of course they failed a couple of other crutial rolls later in the game and lost 2-1, but thats Nuffle for you)

I played Orcs vs. Amazons. An Amazon blitzer was standing one square away from a touchdown with another blitzer for support. My lineman hit the blitzed and knocked the Amazon over. He then picked up the ball and threw it to my blitzer who was at midfield. My blitzer then dodged twice and pushed once to hand the ball off to my passer. My passer dodged once and went for it twice to score.

My opponent didn't say a word. He just sat and watched my victory dance.

Did I mention it was my last turn of a 2-2 tie? He had been gloating that he was going to win.

I play in FUMBBL quite a bit and anyone who plays me should recount something similar to an endzone to endzone. I leave my thrower so far back that if the opponent gfi twice he still can't touch me. So, agenst Skaven or Lizardmen this could be in the endzone. I have my "cage" or simalar settup 6 or 7 squares on there half and a lineman pile with a thrower in it at the half line. After they knock around my players (usually the "cage" on there side of the half) I run my thrower up as far as I can go with no interception chance (if possible) throw to the lineman herd (preferabley to the other thrower) then proceed to hand-off to the catcher in the cage up the field and thats it.

I have doen this countless times with all my teams (No, this isn't my only strategy). My dwarves are designed for this and most opponents are flabergasted when it happens. The Stoutstone Lapidators (my Dwarf team) average about 3 completions a game this way.

So an endzone to endzone play is common for me :smoking:

I came very close to doing it once, but my Black Orc failed his second dodge...

I had a dwarf team with a Blitzer who had diving catch, an AG3 Longbeard with catch, and a pair of HMP runners. Several times I chucked it to the "catchers" whoe were near the opposing endzone. That wa a beautiful team. lol

Well, once a Rookie Shortbeard (2nd-mini) of mine, Slam Stonepit, somehow got a grip on the ball amidst a mess of amazons and dwarves at the LoS. Only option was to pass out of that mess. RR--->6. Blitzer marched on and scored. Got a Shortbeard with a completion now. A very rare oddity in the world of BB I assume.

Twice i have taken the ball from one square short of the endzone to score in one turn. Once with skaven and once with high elves. So nothing to surprising about either of those. I just never have had the opportunity of the ball being in the endzone to start with. Maybe next time i have the opportunity i will move in there to start with! will that count?
