According to the "Allies" rules
here, is there any limit on the number of allies you may take?
For example, if you can take 0-4 lineman, and your linemen can be traded on a 2 for 1 basis for Wardancers, can you have 2 wardancers on your team and take 0 linemen?[/url]

If a team has races listed for allies, then your team can have 2 Linemen OR 1 Positional player from that race on the team. Allies are treated as normal team players and can use team re-rolls. To insure no confusion, a list of Lineman positions for any team that can be used for allies is listed:
Self explanatory I would have thought

not exactly:
if a race is listed as an ally, you either can chose
a) to take two Linemen of that race (or equivalent position, Longberads etc.)
or
b) one positional player as found on the team roster of that race (like DE thrower, WE Wardancer, Skaven Gutterrunner etc.)
That means max. number of allies of a given race is two (Linemen)
hope that helps

Thats how we are ruling it, but it doesn't say that there is a "cap" on the number of linemen you can trade in. Hence the reason I asked

I get your point, but the cap is in the wording
Quote: "If a team has races listed for allies, then your team can have 2 Linemen OR 1 Positional player from that race on the team"
else the wording would say something different, like you can have 6 allies of each race, if you chose positional players substitute them as two Linemen etc. etc.
The wording is not well written but actually it says that the cap is 2.
