BB Mag #6
I've just subscribed to BB mag and issue #6 arrived today. Contents as follows:
BIG AND STUPID: The experimental ogre team - summary as follows:
0-8 Ogres
0-8 Goblins
RR 70k
There is no mention that ogres cannot use re-rolls as far as I can tell. There are pictures of the new ogre minis too.
MATCH REPORT: Norse vs Ogres with commentary from Jim and Bob. Final score 3-0 to the ogres... which seems to indicate that the ogre team doesn't fit the fluff properly!
THE HALFLING PLAYBOOK: Tactics for halflings - strangely only recommends a FF of 3 or 4, which seems a little low since he wants to freeboot a chef every match.
ALL AT SEA: Rules for playing on boats, followed by guide to buildling a BB ship.

That sounds like GW alright; it's new so it's gotta be the best...

I don't know, I don't see any khemri teams around, do you?
At first sight it does seem a bit overpowerded though(16 players, ag 3 players etc..).
And seeing the amount of bonehead per turn (1-2), I'm not looking forward to playing against the team

Well, well,
I seem to remember guessing a while back as i'm sure others did that it would be goblins to fill up the rest of the team.
At least we'll have the mini's to look forward to. I hope that they have got the Bonehead Big Guy rule, as my first thoughts are that these will be seriously overpowered.

I've spoken to a couple of the guys at GW-UK and been told that they the Ogres can use ReRolls as per usual. But of course the only problem with the team is THEY'RE HUGE!!! Hence the Goblins. Mind you, the guy I was speaking to didn't know about the Gobbos and assumed that as far as team development goes you could purchase up to 16 Ogres. Also remember the Ogre Thrower? Its one of the Positional Players as well. Want to see the stats for him!

Of course it is so, it is GW and it is a new team, they HAVE to be at least slightly more powerful than all previous teams (combined)

(Well, at least that wouldn't surprise me)

As far as I can see (perhaps someone else can do better) at no point do Andy or Jervis say that ogres on an ogre team cannot use re-rolls.
I'm tempted to say that Redfang is right: whenever GW create something new, they have to make it superior to previous versions - I guess to make sure that lots of people buy the figures.

Hmmmm ... my thoughts run similar ... however I'm more tempted to believe that they've just completely lost touch with reality to be honest.norev wrote:Someone please call GW and tell them that the editors of this magazine need to take their medication.martynq wrote: BIG AND STUPID: The experimental ogre team - summary as follows:

Either that or if you like conspiracy theories. Every team published in BB Mag is complete crap to force playtesting of alternates to discover a balanced alternative. I know there is a lot of support for the Ogre team put together on TBB .... the biggest problem I'm guessing with that roster is that it doesn't fit well with the figs that JJ had sculpted ... I know, I know cart before the horse, but I'm guessing that will be the largest pushback for the TBB team.

well i can confirm the stats, as i've just driven the 5 mins home to read the mag.
There is no positional player just a model representing the Ogre throwing the ball, and n o new Goblin models. There is no mention of no use of re-rolls and if thats the case this sucks.
As for the Halfling Coaching article, well the lesser said the better. One failed dodge at the beginning of a turn and the defensive tactics are completely shot. offensive rests around throwing as many upfield as possible, with one of them being the ball carrier surrounded by his dodging stunty teamates. Coupled with a Star Player Treeman and a master chef and FF 3. Clearly this guy hasn't played anything since third edition.
as i said the less said the better

it's the age old problem of rules creep... GW does it all the time, new stuff comes out and is a little better than everything before. Intentional? Yes, GW is in the mini-selling business. Can't blame them, but it is a pet hate of mine
Anyway, I tried to get a BB mag subscription but they refused me on the grounds that they were "sorting the system" and werent taking subscriptions...
I'll have to get down to my store then!! only 3 copies delivered to cambridge store, and at least 10 people want them!
