Alternative ways of showing stunned and prone.
Other than laying the models down (face up or down), what other ways do people use to indicate Stunned and Prone?
I have looked at getting or making a 40mm squared pitch so that there is physically more room, but with some of the BIG models used like treemen and such, I am concerned that even that would get awkward.
Going bigger than 40mm gets silly.

For big guys, I often use a prone/stunned marker like this one:

How obvious to the players are those though if they are placed under models?

they replace the model on the pitch, can be confusing if you are using a lot of big guys, but usually ok!

Re: Alternative ways of showing stunned and prone.
What about if you used either coloured thick elastic/rubber bands or those coloured hair-twisty things that you put in pony-tails and such?
So when a model is prone or stunned then you simply put the appropriate colour band over the model. Maybe Blue for Prone, Red for Stunned...

Re: Alternative ways of showing stunned and prone.
that probably works, but I like players to be on the ground when I knock them down. Just as a visual thing.
Also many coaches use rubber bands and suchlike to represent skills, and "Red is Block, Light green is Tackle, Dark green is Dodge, sort of bluish green is Wrestle" is visually engaging enough without adding ".. and gray is prone, black is stunned!"
Any reason you don't want to just lie your models down?

Small enough to put on the base to represent the effect (and for not much cash).

I use the Impact ones, normally to replace the BG in the square.
I do like the stunned/prone minis some companies have done for past crowd-funding teams.

I really like "alternative" figures, where possible - a large figure when standing up, and a smaller one when prone/stunned.

Re: Alternative ways of showing stunned and prone.
On my old Undead team I poked a small hole in each base using a small heated nail (I wasn't sure if just hammering would crack the bases) and then made a couple of Stun and Prone flags using toothpicks and tape which could be stuck into those holes and would stick up above the mini's head to show their state, as well as be easily removable.
Sadly I have no photos from back then. These days I'm just less paranoid about the paint getting dinged by less cautious opponents.

Love this idea. I may have to try it out or a slight variation of it since many of my big guys have magnets in their bases. Thanks.VoodooMike wrote:On my old Undead team I poked a small hole in each base using a small heated nail (I wasn't sure if just hammering would crack the bases) and then made a couple of Stun and Prone flags using toothpicks and tape which could be stuck into those holes and would stick up above the mini's head to show their state, as well as be easily removable.
