I respectufully disagree. I'd say those things are all for people who are already 'into' BB. Don't get me wrong, new players should totally be told about the wealth of all the cool stuff thats out there at the outset as this adds huge value to the hobby. But if you want a starter set to try the game out then I still say the GW box is the way to go. The minis are functional but that gives incentive to upgrade them, and if you factor in the cost of just buying a field, dice, throw meter etc from 3rd party suppliers then those minis are basically free anyway. To get two teams, a field and all the rest from Impact or similar is going to set you back at least double the price of the GW box (right?).
I'm not trying to be argumentitive dude, just my humble opinion.

If you can still get your hands on the boxed set from GW, of course it's the easiest way to go because it's a self contained game with all the things you need to play. And I agree with the point that the 3rd ed book wouldn't be the worst thing to learn off because the game mechanics are pretty much the same.
However it's not the cheapest way to go by any means. You'll be able to ebay two teams for about 30 quid in total, less if you shop around, pick up some indy block dice for what another fiver?, download the CRP and draw out your own pitch for free (or print one).

Actually ... with the plastic stuff ... I can do it now for the same price pretty easily. Amazons and Valkyries in a package with everything else and should be able to get it to be the same $82.50 the game costs now. Valkyrie team will be finished casting at end of August and I'll look into it.

So with all the items that are on the market thats are not GW products (templates, teams, fields, etc) can one of the major suppliers not offer a similar product to the GW box but with current items?
I'm not suggesting they make up a BB boxed game for sale as such but something like a BloodBowl starter kit that contains a pitch from FFields, two teams from Greebo and Impact (examples), ball and throwing templates, and other items needed (cards, etc) along with a piece of paper that provides the link for the LRB ruleset off the internet.
Would this not be a fantastic way for NAF to show its enthusiasm and get things back on track by perhaps spearheading such a product and working with all the manufacturers? Would this not be a great way to use some of the aquired $50k by putting it back into the game itself?
EDIT: Missed your post Galek sorry. Beaten to the punch

I wish it was $82.50 (or the AUD equivalent) here in Australia. To buy the BB Boxed Game from GW you are looking at $138 AUD.
My guess is that Impact could easily beat that price.

Wow, this would be very interesting, not least as to what you would call it!

Its just a revised version of something that has been on our site for a year. Its a kit we sell from products we got from the SSB tournament.

I stand corrected. Let us know when you have that ready to go cos I'll probably grab a set! Are Valkyries used for Norse? (Would have thought Amazons but obviously not if there'll be Amazons in there too).
I don't have a Norse or Amazon team currently so that would be awesome. Much better idea than yet another human and orc team box set. Also would be great for a starter set as Amazons with dodge across the board and Norse with block provide perfect way to learn the main skills.
Also, if you did a slightly more expensive version with all positionals available for both teams you'd have a mouthwatering product.

So, Impact would be able to propose directly a "box" with 2 full teams, a field, 3 impact blocking dice, and the needed templates?
It would be a great starter for newbies!
But no legal issue with GW to do this?

No rule book. No worries.
It's just a box of stuff.

GW vs Chapterhouse was just recently settled and GW allowed it to go to a verdict instead of settling out of court.
Majority finding of the court was that GW cannot prevent a company from making accessories that work with their products especially if the product is not mentioned by name for the accessory.

Clarification. It would be a large plastic bag. Boxes are freaking expensive.

Quick math says it would be around $110 AUD.

Two quick things:
1) The Valkyrie team we are working on in plastic will be an interesting mix that has multiple options. The team will come with:
Giant Werebear
Ice Troll
Giantess
4 Blitzers (2 poses)
4 Catchers (2 poses)
2 Throwers (1 pose)
6 Linewomen (2 poses)
2 Werebears (1 pose)
2 Wolfmen (2 poses)
This mix allows it be used for a several different possible teams (4 that I can think of easily) including if desired a Chaos Pact team missing the 3 Renegades (but you'll have all of the 3 Big Guys) and if you wanted to stretch ... you could use the Wolfmen for the Rat and Elf.
