Worst start ever for a team

I have an Orc team on the Open League at ECBBL which I was running for practice. Standard build 4 BOBs 4 blitzers a thrower and 2 linos. No apo and three re-rolls

First game Thrower killed game lost 10k winnings
Second game BOB killed game lost 10k winnings
Third game Blitzer -str (effectively killed) lost 10k winnings

So three games three losses and -230k in player value for 30k winnings. With ORCS
Took 8 games to get back to the starting lineup.

Beat that.

I think you win.

We put in a house rule where we continue to roll until we get a 2 or higher for the winnings. Winning just 10k sets you back big time. I can't imagine rolling it 3 games in a row.

I saw a Dwarf team suffer three deaths, I think five serious injuries (many permanent injuries), and two Badly Hurts in it's first game. There was one dwarf left standing. It was against a rookie Khemri team, too, with no Mighty Blow or anything, just good dice.

I don't know if low-AV teams can play, but in our most recent season an Elf team suffered 8 casualties in their first game, including a blitzer and catcher killed and two other players receiving stat reductions. As often happens, this created a spiral of death and they were fielding multiple journeymen for the rest of the season.

Are you Irish? I would have retired that team after the thrower died, but you stuck it out for 10 more matches. The Irish are the only ones that I know stubborn enough to abuse themselves in such a manner. :D

Ouch! :(
We have a house rule in our league saying that you get an extra 10k winning per dead player. It helps a little.

The only way to get a proper handle (unfortunately) on freakin fairy teams....

BIG TIME RHETORICAL QUESTION: And that is problematic for the elves HOW?! What, the poor pansies only have a 50 percent chance to reroll a ONE...? Boo-frickin-hoo :P

(nothin gainst you, Gaixo, this is THE greatest game design flaw in BB, imo)

I can do you one better, with Orcs as well, same starting team (4+4+1+2+3)

First match, vs Goblins no less :oops:, Dead BOB, Dead Lineorc, NI Blitzer (got sacked), 10k winnings
Second match, no Cas against, but again only 10k winnings
Third Match, Dead Blitzer x2, NI Blitzer, winnings decent, 50 or so.

So, even if I had kept both NI Blitzers, I would have 5 Journeyman next match and 4 afterwards.

Team got retired; I play in an open TT league which meets only once a month and I have 4 other teams in that league, so really no point in wasting a year or so (assuming nothing else happened) getting back to the starting lineup.

I started an orc team on Cyanide a couple of years ago, faced dark elves game 1. 2 dead blitzers and a dead black orc.

I also started a wood elf team, and before the first kick, a thrown rock killed one of the wardancers.

I don't think either team made it to game 2... :P

Ah retiring a team just because a single player dies... It's BLOOD bowl! Can see the point after Dr. Von R's game though.

In our just finished season, we had a rookie coach use a human team.
Started with;
4 Blitzers
2 Throwers
2 Catchers
4 Linemen
3 Rerolls and 10k left over.

After game one:
4 Blitzers still, one with AG-, one with AV-
2 Throwers still, one with AG-
2 Catchers still, one with a niggle
4 Linemen still, one with AV-, one with niggle.
20k in the bank.

A vet coach took an Elf team;
2 Blitzers
3 Catchers
2 Throwers
4 Lineelves
2 Rerolls.

After game 1;
2 Blitzers still, one with AG-
2 Catchers left, one with AG-
1 Thrower left, with AV-
4 Lineelves still, one with AV-
40k in the bank.

Neither of them recovered and they were both retired before the season ended as it only went down hill from there.

That's the nature of momentum in Blood Bowl. Once things start going badly, they tend to rapidly get worse and worse. This is often true during a game and between games.
