IT help

Hi all,
I asked elyoukey by email, but he's moving computer at the moment. Two requests:

- I have a snazzy pic in my sig (that I saw someone else has, but can't remember who). I'd like to be able to automatically generate pics like that with different NAF numbers on, so that everyone can have one if they want one. Anyone know how, or know where to ask?

- still on the sig, I'd like the two lines of text to be in line with the picture (as in wrapped text in word). Is this possible in BBcode?

1) You'd need to have some kind of CGI app (PHP, Java, etc.) that generates the image and sends it back as an image response stream. Not overly difficult, but you'd need to know what your web application supports as languages before someone could help you. :)

2) Do you mean you want your signature to not go past the length of your image? If that's all, you just need to either:
i) Manually do it
ii) Know the width of your image and set the HTML to wrap your text with that width as the maximum. Within forums, maybe straight HTML if it doesn't support it? Dunno, try it out. :)

Just a reminder: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31987

As for wrapping the text, do you mean next to it, like the "Get one", but two lines? No idea if it's possible, but if it is, I'd like to know how!

Darkson wrote:So going forwards, can all users please make sure their signatures are approximately 4 lines of normal sized text "high" - this includes images (like mine). Using smaller font sizes will give you roughly 5 or 6 lines.!
Yep, this is why I want to wrap text!

Hmm, Fumbbl has a guide to BBcode, which suggests this is the way to do it, but it evidently doesn't work.

In the BBCode link under the signature bit on the profile it talks about adding custom code. Perhaps something doubleskulls needs to add?

Stuff like that we admins ( :P ) can't do, only Ian has that type of access.

I thought you were a moderator rather than an admin? Red not green?

other way round Sann, green = mere moderator; red = bugged Ian long enough to become admin....

What you need is an admin who knows his way around the backyard of phpbb admin zone. Who is able to download and add bbcode to the workings. That all depends on the level of access Ian gave his admin team. From what Simon is saying he cant do it, so it may be Ian only has access to that level of the forum.

If he does get this message, then added a few other bbcodes would be as well.

If that is the size you are aiming for i'd change the font, it is hard to read.

Latest attempt, disconnecting the top from the bottom. Bit rubbish, unfortunately because of the gap between the two lines.

I think I'm thinking of something that someone already had, which looked better than mine. Can't remember who it was though.
