Let's hear it for the unsung heroes...

Post by Smurf »

Yeah I'm talking about the line, or what ever passes as the line.

Those guys who take a bruising so the rest of the team can function.

The guys who get treated mercilessly by their coaches.

The ones who are injured and put on the LOS until death.

Let's hear it for those unsung heros of Blood Bowl.

They can be vital. Like you said, they take a beaten so the rest of the team can function. Jokes aside, there may be a lesson there for any beginners reading...

A lot of line, especially if the team enjoys movement, deserve wrestle for their G access.

With the exception of Norse and Dwarves all the others will live longer with wrestle.

If they are blessed with a second skill then fend is good unless there is A access which dodge makes them pretty solid at their job.

Don't put the good line on the scrimmage to get torn apart. Keep them safe for an offence, protect them.

If line are given MVP allow them to toss a ball so they can skill up.

A good line is one that helps you win games.

It is an interesting quandary for some teams of who goes on the LOS.

I particularly think of low TV high and dark elves in the lrb4 days. Back then you needed high FF so teams would often have 9 linemen and the 1st skill pick for them would be block or dodge.

If in a situation where you had 8 linemen, 4 rookies and 4 with dodge it was a tough choice on who got LOS duty. The dodge players were harder to take down as a lot of teams would have no tackle and only a couple of block players, they were also better at dodging away. But if your skilled players got taken out in T1 then the game was much harder, and those players risked getting blocked and were more easily fouled too.

lucky you don't play lizards for there is not such thing as "spared" players, all lizards players types are mandatory so any cas is a good cas for your opponent.
running out of skink ? you will get trouble playing the ball
running out of saurus ? you will have a hard time punshing players

so the LOS choice is not as easy as with other rosters.

linemen are the soul of a team xD the unexpected heroes xD the ones who noones counts on

some of them
double guard lineman, the double skull sufferer, always supporting the positionals, in middle of the block line :p

"6+6" strenght lineman, the nomore lineman

kick lineman, the one who doesnt meet LOS xD

LOS for lizzies is incredibly easy. The str4 av9 guys that can't handle the ball and not the str2 av7 stunties.

I usually go 2 saurii and one skink, unless I'm facing a roster with lots of MB/PO/tackle and no claw, in which case I go 2 saurii and the krox.
