Ähm, now if you can't use Sure Feet & Sprint with Passbl

Post by Toby »

So you can go-for-it on a Passblock ?

I mean, otherwise it would not make sense to restrict the use of Sprint & Sure feet ?

No you can't go for it on a pass block, you just get the 3 mv and no more. The sprint and sure feet skills were just added for extra clarity.

(I'm almost sure, and would be astonished; absolutely mesmerised if I'm wrong on this one)

Extra Clarity ?

Pardon me but as you can see mentioning skills that are unavailiable because the action they refer to is unavailiable is adding confusion.

as i read it, GFI is allowed with the restriction of not being able to use GFI skills...

If they only said Jump Up wasn't allowed, there would be somebody standing up and shouting; "Hey, sprint and sure feet are allowed to be used, so you can do a going for it with a pass block!!!"

So, extra clarity for some, makes it less clear for others, apparently...

Does Sprint & Pass Block enable a player to Go For It and move 6 squares during his opponents turn in order to move in position for a interception ?
Going For It is for players who have taken a normal action and used up all of their MA.
It's not for Pass Block.-Chet

The above was taken from Deathwings rules FAQ in the rules queries forum (where this topic belongs, I'd say)

So, going for it appears to be ruled out, and if that's not enough still, we could always sort out the exact wordings in the LRB2.0

The reason you cannot use Sprint and Sure Feet is because you can NEVER GFI on a Pass Block. No matter what your player is or how much movement he normally has he gets 3 squares of movement.

Okay, I must admit that the LRB is not much of a help now...

Galak, that's what I said, or weren't you saying I had it incorrect somewhere.

Also, it doesn't actually say anywhere that you can't GFi on a Pass Block, should 've been put in by the BBRC I'd say...

Oh well, can't have it all

My Point. The simplest and clearest version would be a line that states "Players can not GFI on a Pass Block move"

for me the whole rulebook is still written clustered with bits of info here and there, you have to combine basic, extra and skill rules and you never find all relevant information about a certain topic in one place. yes i know BB has never been better but to me its badly written and organised. But i will immidiately shut up before someone accuses me of flaming...

I agree that the rulebook is often quite chaotic

You'll just have to learn how to read it; just like strong liquor; cognac, whisky or whiskey; you have to learn how to like it.. it will come to you with time (and age)

And I like it, a bit too much occasionally...

Well, we could go on bragging about what games we once played, or how we were bashed last night or something, but that would lose its interest some day, I guess

No, it's not unclear. It says "the only skills you can't use..." If they didn't include sure feet and sprint then you could argue that those skills could be used, and that you could go for it.

Your argument holds no logical weight whatsoever.

Sorry Marcus, but I've gotta disagree with you on that one. The RR states that you cannot use Sprint (to GFI 3 times) or Sure Feet (for your personal reroll) on a PB move. I'll agree that the intent is that you can't GFI on a PB, but the LRB doesn't specifically say so.

And it doesn't specifically say you can. So the default would be you cannot ... come one what cheese filled beard world do you have to come from to think that Pass Block allows GFIs? That's like says that a Shadow player could follow a Leaper both squares if he GFI because it doesn't say he cannot ... forgive me ... this is just plain silly to think you can GFI on PB.
