Firstly, the 25th anniversary is next year, as the game came out in '87.
Secondly, why make a new post about stuff that was discussed weeks or months ago, especially when said ppost doesn't actually contain "more" rumours? There's a search engine for a reason.

Boardgamegeek has it as 1986. 2nd ed. as 1988.

That was the copyright date. JJ made it VERY clear to us when he was planning a 20 year anniversary that it was not released by GW until 1987. The copyright date was based on when they registered for the copyright.

If they were to ever do an anniversarry edition, I don't think they would be to concerned about the 86 or 87 date. They would do it whenever they felt they could cash in on it and excuse the rest away.
More and more rumours all the time about this, but I still feel like they will stick to suprise army releases, or all inclusive games that require no further support as their 'Blackbox' releases.

Here's another rumour I just made up: re-release will include a solid gold pitch and a space marine team! Release will be limited to 5 copies and will cost one million pounds. Two million for Australians.
Who says rumours are right or wrong? They are all rumours, after all!
