Hi everyone iam starting this post too share the point of view of the new guy starting from square one . I heard of blood bowl before and was always interested in giving it a go . I found the New york blood bowl league and signed up for the new season , without even owning a team . So I had a month to order a team and paint it , the next day I called GW and ordered a human team , the newer griff , and newer zug . A week went by and ummmmm no team so I gave GW a ring and they said my order was got mixed up and was never processed , they agreed to ship it one day air and it came the next day ONLY instead of Zug I got a wood elf war dancer ( really ? I cant see how you can mix up the two ) so back on the phone and they agreed to ship Zug out one day air again and I could keep the war dancer ( which is up for trade if someone needs one ) . So with 2 weeks to go I found a few podcast and listened to them while I began to paint my Averland Avalanche .
I picked up the PC game to help me learn the rules so I don't look like a total newb . I managed to paint all but two linemen before my first real season game which was on wed. it was his first game as well so it was very slow paced but very fun , playing the PC game and listening too all of the Zurpcasts ( Zlurpcast helping newbs not look like total F@$! ups ) tackle zone radio , and 3 die blocks I can really seemed to help . Most where surprised it was my first game . After throwing an interception too a hobgoblin ( I was playing chaos dwarfs by the way ) I managed to get the ball back get it too a catcher who was clobbered by a minotaur but held onto the ball , I was able too run him out of 2 tackle zones and go for it twice for the TD ( first one of the season for the league ) so at the half I am up 1 too nothing .
The second half will be played Saturday , I will also post pics of my team by than as well . So far I am loving this game and am trying to get the cash together to get too Indy for the Zurpee bowl . What I love most is you only have 16 guys too paint and you can convert each guy to have his own personality so your not really painting the same model twice . My next project is getting my hands on an ogre too make a nice center piece too my human army . That is it for now thanks for reading and keep an eye out for my pics of the Averland Avalanche .

I bet you're coming to BB from some wargame.
I really enjoy the miniatures aspect of BB myself too. Somehow cutting plastic miniatures up and working with green stuff is very relaxing. I only have a very hard time picking up a brush myself. I love making up the team but get totally disheartened after undercoating them. My slann team I could manage but painting them all blue was not very hard. Now I've modelled shorts for them so I'm back to square one with them. I guess I could always use green stuff green as the team color.
Enough of my woes. Be sure to give those Chaos dwarves a sound kicking tomorrow!

Spot on, might just make that my sig/quote
Welcome to BloodBowl Slann, look forward to seeing your team, enjoy your second half.
Welcome!

Glad it's been such a great experience for you(the playing part) in your first Half of the game.
Just to add to the fun, you can stick to Granny Wendy by buying someone's figs off of EBay or even here in the Minis for Sale section of the boards. There are also other vendors you can hit up for awesome figs as well(the owners may be by shortly to welcome you as well).
Continued luck against those Chaos Dwarfs - those guys are rare to see nowadays!

Other then dealing with GW i'm glad you are having a good time getting into the game. If there is anything I can do to help you get to Zlurpee let me know.

When opponents/league members/us try to tell you what to do it is with good intention to make you a better player even though you want to kick our heads in. (Fouls are okay they are a NATURAL part of the game

)

Here is an Ogre I converted and painted for my human team, was really easy and I was really pleased with the result. Hopefully it will give you some inspiration.

DEf, very cool ogre , I found a few ideas I might work with ,
So week one is over and I am 1-0 with my thrower picking up accurate for his new skill , and one of my catchers is about to pick up a new skill as well , not bad for only playing one half I guess ( never got to finish the second half , my opponent got busy ) so the game was called as is . Wish i had more to report but only finishing one half there wasn't much more info . I am glade to take the win but would have liked too pick up some more SSP .
My next game is dark elves , I might try to clobber his assassin as fast as I could , use my blitzer's too keep up with his ball handlers and keep a catcher back too help against the dump off . I really want to get strip ball on a blitzer I feel that makes him super reliable to get the ball loose .

That is an absolutely awesome paint job!
I only just got into blood bowl, and just finished painting up my first team... (orcs out of the box), never done any mini painting before. I think I might just throw mine in the trash compactor now
(for those interested,
here are mine)

Sorry KidStealth, didn't think about that!
I've copied the post for you, I've had to remove the all the pics, because apparently some are greater than 800 width which is too much for these forums (I think they are about 850 lol), so I have got links to each one instead.
yumi_cheeseman wrote:Ok, so I have finished the team (it's just the standard 12 models)
After being so proud of my first mini, I don't like them anymore (since taking photos). I did a black wash over everything on an entire mini and it looks like it was dipped in tar lol.
After that I decided to do a few different washes (darker green, dark red and a black wash for armour). I thought they looked good, but as soon as I take a photo of them, it all looks so terrible!
It's not true though, I really love half the team, half the team look great

, half of them look like they've been painting using crap though.
The good thing is that I don't care much for Orcs, and I painted them for practice, and so I can introduce more players to the game amongst my friends. I can DEFINITELY say I've improved, my hand is much steadier, I'm faster, and I am better at fine details.

P.S. I haven't yet painted teeth, will do that now
