On the GW site the lrb 5.0 and rule reviews pdfs are gone and replaced by a very bare bones PDF called competition rules pack. After a quick glance through it appears to be LRB 6.0. As expected the experimental teams are not there. Seems that they are calling them alternate rules judging by the opening comments in the pdf. So I don't know if that makes them official or not. But, as the LRB 5 is gone.....

The only reason I can think of for holding that back was if there was some way to make money out of it. Like perhaps a hard copy book for sale on their site. Possibly as part of some form of re-released BB box set?

All speculation of course, but I can't imagine them doing it for any other reason.

Yep, this just screams for a printed rulebook on sale soon (around Christmas 2012 by GW standards ). Well, i can live with that and until then i have my homebuild LRB5+ with glued in LRB6 errata

They did not even bother to fix the page numbering on the download

I so don't care about the gimped download. As long as the rules are live and the tournaments and leagues all start using them. I'm stoked.

They are afraid of their own lawyers.

My own personal hunch is that it has been done as a bit of a rush job because tickets are going on sale for the Dungeonbowl about now.... and as a GW event, they would need a set rules pack for both that and the GT in May.

I doubt that is a final "polished" version.... but even the title of it makes me feel that has been done quite specifically for the two GW events coming up..... things like the numbering of pages, the alignment of text etc. That would all make sense to me if so.

In order to put this gimped version on the web they would actually have had to spend a number of hours creating it from the docs they were given. It would have taken longer than just putting LRB6 live.

No, they have to have a reason for creating a gimped document or they wouldn't have bothered.

I of course take your viewpoint Wylder, but reading that document -- it's just I read it cover to cover and I see exactly what we (I) have been discussing with GW about the events in the last few years. My personal view is this is why it is not called LRB6 - its called a tournament pack.

To give you an example - Illegal proceedure. Surely a key rule in the game but do you see any reference to that in this document? I could not find it, so I figure it has been removed. That is something that Darkson and I advised them to do for the GW events. Seems that if this was anything other than a doucment to cover tournaments, that would be in there.
So I dont think we are seeing LRB6. I think (stress I am guessing / going on a hunch) they are covering the events coming up.......
