Rules for snotling teams

Post by RDark »

What are the "official" rules for snotlings? In our league we use following:

12-30 Snots
5 1 3 5 Dodge Titchy 20k

0-4 Trolls
basic trolls

Titchy

+1 to injury rolls
d6-1 extra players on the field
+2 to dodge rolls, ignores tackle zones

Are these the "official" rules?

RDark, the Snotling team that you listed is from BB Mag #1 and is broken badly in too many different ways to count.

The best version that has been suggested by a BBRC member and that I've tested in multiple ways for over a 100 games now is the following:

0-16 Snotling 20,000 Agility
5/1/3/5
Dodge, Side Step, Right Stuff, Titchy

Big Guys:
0-4 Troll 100,000 General/Strength
4/5/1/9
Mighty Blow, Regenerate, Throw TeamMate, Always Hungry, Really Stupid

Rerolls: 80,000
BIG GUYS CANNOT USE TEAM RE-ROLLS.

Titchy:
1) +2 to injury
2) +2 to dodges, ignores tackle zones
3) D6/2 extra each setup (1=0 extra, 2-3=1, 4-5=2, 6=3)
4) player does not exert a -1 penalty when dodging into their tackle zone
5) increases any pass by 2 range bands (ie Quick=Long, Short=Long Bomb, and they cannot throw over Short without Hail Mary Pass)

==========================================

That's it. If the Snotling team ever becomes official again, I expect it to have these rules since several BBRC members helped create these rules to balance out the Snotling team.

As I've said, hands down the team you listed is broken and should not be allowed to be played. In the hands of a good coach, they will dominate a league. So there you go, if you guys love the version in BB Mag #1 ... more power to you. Just wanted to give you an idea of what the Snotling team will probably look like if the BBRC can ever agree to make them experimental again. Norse and I have been begging the BBRC for over a year to do so. I know either Babs or Dean HATES the idea of the Snotling team, but that one vote in 7 .... I'm hoping that JKL or Chet helps us with this one at some point. Heck the team even has models floating around GW to met with the mini=rule, rule=mini JJ mantra.

That is the understatement of the year.

A Snotling team won Orion two years ago, every day I feel shame because of this.

Hail Mary Pass

Post by ExeGAMER »

If a Snotling takes Hail Mary Pass does he use it as written (throwing to anywhere on the pitch) or is he limited to a maximum of long range passes?

Hail mary is hail mary. Use it as written. I put it on a stink bomber back when the team in the BBMag came out. Man did the other guys hate that guy. He was quite funny though, usually totally useless but the threat was always there.

Snotlings have no place in Blood Bowl! I'll spit on that team with my dying breath! In the fluff, any fluff, it's said that snotlings don't even have the mental capacity to keep themselves alive. They are lemmings. Brain damaged dogs are smarter than these things. They only mimic, even in WHFB, they only do what the unit next to them does. They are not capable of organizing a BB team. It's stupid.

If they were added to goblin teams and had some sort of mimic trait then I could accept them. Or as a special "Smear the Snot" game but other than that it's dumb!

BAN THE SNOTLINGS!!!!!!!!!

but the minis are really cool... so there need to be rules for the snots :)
that said the team must be utterly pathetic - in an all stunty league (halflings, gobbos, snots) they should be about the equivalent strength of an all halfling team in a normal league.
So on a good day they could beat the halflings but basically don't have a hope in hell against any other team.

or maybe snots would be better off being a part of a troll team - like the goblins are on the proposed ogre team.
the snotling team mentioned by Galak is almost a troll team anyhow as most coaches would want to take all 4 available trolls .
or what about snots being part of the ogre team?

...snotlings don't even have the mental capacity to keep themselves alive...
A pre-requisite for any BloodBowl player.

Quite frankly I find it hard to accept the argument that any team should not receive a roughly even chance in the game.

I'm willing to accept that Snotlings should be out on the extreme limit of the very hardest to coach successfully teams but it also grates that the same people who argue that snotlings should be pathetic are quite happy to take the same SPPs for squashing one that they would take for hurting a Troll or for scoring against a good team.

Having recently come off the back of my first ever win, a combination of outrageous luck on my part (a mis-thrown Snotling killing an Ogre), bad-luck and stupid play on the part of my opponent (taking on four Trolls in a shoving match), seeing the opposing team so badly mauled that I agreed to pass the last two game turns out of sympathy rather than have him retire from the league, I am now (briefly) having delusions of winning the league trophy!

Big deal if a Snotling has Hail Mary Pass. In fact, I wouldn't have taken it except for the fact that the model in question was the one converted to be throwing a ball (obviously fate). It's not like it is easy for him to get the ball in the first place and the first time he uses it he'll be marked for death by the opposition.

Snotlings are for players who want to win by riding their luck, reacting to the ebb and flow of play, using the limited resources at their disposal to maximum tactical advantage and all the while entertaining the crowd... rather than by studying the manual, stacking the odds and just running the numbers on match day.

An Ogre being killed by a Snotling is a highlight in any season.

Check the fluff. The Moot league has a Snotling team so none of the 'Fling teams have to come bottom. IMO all the stunty teams are over-powered when compared to the fluff, goblin teams are meant to have problems winning a game when half the opposition fail to turn up, so if Snotlings are in the slightest competitive they are why over powered.

A snotling team should view the game as a moral victory if it ends the game with any snots on the pitch.
