I have a question about cards like magical object, event, etc .....

There is some cards like trap or mine wich KO your player. My question is:
I play , my opponent play the card mine, some of my players are KO.
There is turnover ??????

I think no because my players don't have the ball.
If i have the ball and my plyer with the ball take a mine, is there turnover ???

Well, I would say yes, there is a turnover anyway, since your player does not finish his action standing.

I only use mines to knock over the ball carrier. Makes more sense to get the ball loose with a card than a blitz.

So you still play 3rd.? Did you take a look at the new table which replaced the cards?

What do you thick of it?

are you sure about this, sputnik ???

We play third editions with some rules of bbrc2k1 but we now will play with full bbrc2k1.

Except for the handicap table because we like playing with the card

I am sure that it is a turnover if the ballcarrier is knocked over. He looses the ball, eventually his life and the opponent is to recover the pigskin.

That's why some people don't like cards. You have good tactics, good play from scrimmage and a useless card. Your opponent has the mine and the ball afterwards, exept when you play like he has got the mine. But then your tactics is lost...

To protect the ballcarrier all the way to the endzone is pretty hard, so the mine usually is a turnover AND the ball for free! A VERY good card indeed.

I would say that it depends upon whether that player was in the middle of an action or not, players are supposed to complete actions standing to avoid a turnover.

I cannot look it up right now but I think you can only play the mine if an opponent's player enters a square in our own half. That means this player is knocked over automatically and since it is the players action it should be a turnover anyway!

General rule regarding cards: If what happens on the card would cause a turnover, it's a turnover. There are a few cards which specify otherwise, in which case it doesn't. Can't think of any of the exceptions off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure there are some.

A lot of problems with the cards was the ambiguity of a lot of them. I wouldn't expect any official rulings on an obsolete ruleset. Down to your commish to make a ruling and stick with it I guess.
And 'starting an action and not ending it standing on the pitch' was purely a 4th ed. rule.
